Had a doctors appointment across the street and arrived a bit early so decided to try out a local coffee shop and wanted to get some breakfast. Got a chai latte with an espresso shot that was AMAZING!!! Not many food options at 8 am when I arrived but it’s a nice cool spot to just relax…

Outstanding quality coffee. I had a pour over that was just wonderful. The Ethiopian beans had all the fruity character I love about that origin. The blueberry muffin was a perfect compliment. The service was great - the barista was very personable and helpful while serving multiple customers! Kudos to Quality Coffee!! I'll be back!

They source from ethical coffee farms and have amazingly fresh coffee, without pretense. What a wonderful DC business!

Unassuming, cute, authentic, high-quality coffee. Beans roasted daily, variety of origins.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The breakfast we had was really good and very tasty. The espresso was even better, the best coffee in the area. I also love the decaf it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The barista is very good at making different toppings. The staff is very friendly. And also the strawberry topped cake is really delicious.

If you are on the area and want a decent iced latte this is the place to be! Very good service, laid back place. Simple but good. The cookies were excellent!

Their coffee is really good - no fuss! Multigrain bagel was delicious - cream cheese and tomato is the way to go!

This place brought delicious microroasted microbatch beans and coffee to Petworth years ago when the old terrible Safeway (known as Stinky) stood where the current very nice one, with a mini Starbucks stands. Qualia was instantly my favorite coffee spot in DC and 13 years later, it still is. I remember asking the owner back in the day if he was concerned about the Starbucks coming when the Safeway was being built...he said he wasn't since they couldn't compete with his beans as far as quality. He's still here and has expanded to Eckington. There are big operators like Philz that have made their way to DC, and if I happen to be there...cool, but I'll go out of my way to patronize Qualia. The owner Joel is a really nice guy, who has always acted like a member of the community, not someone just here to make a buck. Feel good about giving this neighborhood fixture your business...and get amazing coffee in return!

Great coffee in a neighborhood joint. Because of the pandemic they kind of moved next door into a space shared with another restaurant. Still great service and still great coffee. It's important to keep in mind that they roast their own coffees , so even the pour overs are excellent . ☕😎👍

Found Qualia Coffee on our first morning in D.C. Small, attractive shop with open space up front (probably seating in the Before Times?), counter with small selection of baked goods, coffee roaster, patio out back. House coffee was excellent, as were the blueberry muffin and cheese/chives biscuit. Patio was cool and pleasant and quiet mid-morning. Nice selection of roasts; we got a bag of the Tanzania Kilimanjaro ground for us and it has been very tasty.

This is my neighborhood spot and they pour great coffee to a high standard. From lattes to pour over to iced tea, it's all delicious. The place is small but they have extra seating upstairs. It's an open air design and can get very hot in summer inside the shop, but I enjoy the heat, and will still hang out to enjoy a great drink.

Pleasant coffee shop with a nice atmosphere and nice variety in available roasts. The everything bagel with cream cheese I had was somehow amazingly delicious and I still don't know exactly why.
Not quite a perfect 5 because it quickly goes from feeling relaxed and cozy to cramped and uncomfortable if it's even slightly busy as there is very limited indoor seating or space. I was also very disappointed the one time I went later in the afternoon and they were out of bagels :'(

Fantastic coffee - both beans for sale and pour over/espresso drinks. Try their tea and pastries, too! It's a touch small, however, and not a great place to hang out, although the rear patio is lovely in nice weather.

Best coffee for miles - pour overs and anything else. They have really good pandemic practices and an outdoor space in front to sit for a bit. In normal, non-pandemic times they have a lovely back courtyard and a no-fuss, very simple study space upstairs. Vegans take note - lots of cookies and beverages for you too.

Don't expect flavor shots or gimmicky drinks from this great local roaster. If quality and freshness are priorities for you then you'll love the wide selection of beans from around the world roasted daily in small batches. While they always have something for everyone, you won't find the same beans year-round as they constantly rotate their stock and adjust their roasts to bring out the best flavors in the beans. The store is small, though, and you may have to fight through the crowd on a weekend morning to get that perfect cuppa.

Have you ever woken up and dreaded your ritualistic work week? This was me... everyday. Until I found Qualia coffee.
The delicious pour over coffee in the morning makes me feel like I can take over the world.
Thank you to the coffee Gods for whatever magical empowering drug is sprinkled in every Qualia cup

The baristas are very knowledgeable about beans, the roast, and how to do a great pour-over.

The coffee is phenomenal and unique. However, the customer service has been going downhill. It went from knowledgeable to condescending to now just downright rude. My last experience was probably my last. My boyfriend and I stopped at Slim's, but the line was out the door. We grabbed a menu and headed over to Qualia. We were browsing the menu while waiting for our coffee (which we had already paid for) when a barista came up from behind us and told us not to block traffic, especially if we were going to look at a menu from a different establishment. She shoved us out of her way and kept going. Totally rude and unnecessary considering we were already paying customers at HER establishment. I'm all for supporting local coffee houses, but probably not this one.

Great coffee house!

Love the anise notes in the current batch of Sulawesi!

Love the coffee and study space! New favorite neighborhood hangout!

Bitchiest, rudest white staff ever!

I've gotten thoughtful coffee education, warm smiles, friendly chat and uncontrived—nearly deep conversation (in the midst of food and coffee prep with blasting music and all kinds of activity), yummy bagels that were also like art, and lots of VERY good coffee here. That is all.
