Place doesn't look all that great from the street, but the food was good. Ordered a duck and wonton soup with the house made fresh noodles. Super good. Tastes were all real and fresh. The duck is hanging in the window if you don't believe it was cooked and prepared right there. Service was fast. Prices are great.

Nothing fancy here, but really good homestyle Chinese food. Friendly and welcoming full service. We lucked out on timing, and we got the table by the front window. The restaurant was full for dinner hours, but there was no waiting. We were seated right away. There's an extensive food menu. There's something here for everyone. The pork fried dumplings were fresh and crispy. The egg rolls, on the other hand, were very greasy but crispy. Two of us tried the fresh noodles; one as duck soup, and the other duck sauté. You can not go wrong with either option. The duck will have fat and bones but adds wonderful flavors. The noodles are fresh, hearty, and fulfilling.

We went to this restaurant on christmas. Food was really good. We had vegetable soup, hunan chicken and eggplant. However, the restaurant is overcrowded and it took almost 30-45 mins for our dishes to arrive. I would suggest to take out instead of dine-in from this restaurant as it is too much overcrowded during special days like Christmas.

Chinatown Express is convenient to Gallery Place metro. There are two eating areas. Service is quick and efficient. We were immediately seated and our order taken. We got the chicken Yat (noodles soup), sweet and sour chicken, Singapore rice noodles, and an ice cold Tsingtao beer.
The soup came out first. It was so good and flavorful.
The Singapore rice noodles was very good also. Nice sized shrimp and loaded with green onions. Back in the day the noodles were hand made in the front window.
The sweet and sour chicken was piping hot but could have been flavored better.
I will return. This is one of the few Chinese establishments that I will eat. Prices are pretty decent. The only thing I didn't like was the prices were not on the ticket when we paid.

This is our first time sitting in and I usually order the duck lomain to go. But wanted to try something different and I'm glad we did. Everything they make is always fresh and very good they never disappoint. Will definitely come back.

This place makes really really good delicious food, but the appearance and low maintenance of the restaurant don’t sit well with the visitors. But you haven’t done the Chinatown experience right, if you don’t eat some duck and traditional Chinese dishes in a half basement establishment :P
We got pecking duck, lobster, eggplants, rice of course and had a full on feast. Duck was so so good. The lobster with garlic sauce is exactly what I want it to be. The garlic sauce eggplant was pure joy.
The people at the restaurant were super nice to us. But the restaurant does lack in proper maintenance and appearance. The entrance and front side is much nicer than the back room dining tables. But I am happy ignore all that for the delight of my heart and tummy :)

I recently visited Chinatown Express in DC and had a great experience! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food considering the affordability.
Additionally, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They made sure our experience was pleasant from start to finish. The food arrived quickly and was fresh and piping hot.
Overall, I recommend Chinatown Express if you're looking for a tasty meal that won't break the bank. The combination of delicious food, friendly staff, and quick service made for a fantastic dining experience. Four of five stars!

I like tasting different food from different horizons and this time I tried the noodle with roasted duck .
The broth is super tasty and the meet is well cooked and juicy . The skin is crisp and the fat is barely noticeable.
My only cons is the noodles. They are too cooked and lack the taste I expected them to have.
Service is fast despite the number of hungry customers.
I recommend for a quick lunch or a diner.

This place is solid gold. My partner and I were drawn in by the uncle making dumplings in the window and I'm so glad. My partner said the dumplings tasted like his grandma's homemade ones, which is the highest praise I can give. The fresh noodles were thick and perfectly cooked and the broth was light but flavorful. I got the soup noodles with bbq pork, and it was easily one of the best tasting pork I've had - the quality was great. If you're looking for simple, delicious, and authentic food, this is it.

Great spot for family style and traditional meals along with Americanized meals too. Need to go back for the duck, looked incredible and was told as much by patrons. Food is all delicious and prices are competitive as they get, though I wish the check showed prices. Place doesn’t have the best smell when you walk in but shouldn’t deter you from great food.

This place to me is the epitome of A ChinaTown. From the green exterior fourier, the red double doors with half circle windows to the roasted duck hanging in the window.
I knew nothing about this place, didn’t bother reading any reviews because of how strongly I was attracted to this place from the exterior.
I order there most popular dish which was fresh noodles, bok choy and broth so delicious I had to finish drinking right out the bowl.
If this isn’t a landmark of DC, then it should be. Do your self a favor and definitely check them out.
