I was very nervous making this reservation. This was my first michelin experience and after reading countless reviews i didnt know what to expect. Ultimately i decided to treat it like any other restaurant and let the experience speak for itself. Reservations were at 8 and the restaurant was fairly empty for s saturday night. The restuarant is gorgeous. I cant speak enough on how visually appealing it is. We opted for the shared plates. And ordered the mango salad, spring rols, abodo, bulguli (spelling) and a side of garlic fried rice. The salad was extremely EXTREMELY lack luster. Nothing more then a standard diner garden salad with diced mango. The spring rolls were delightful. Easily my favorite of the evening. The main courses were decent, but would honestly have come from any no name restaurant anywhere in the country and would probably have been equal or even better. The fried rice had fresh tasting veggies in it, but….. missed the mark on any flavor. The portion size was good (for $100 i would hope so) and we have plenty left over. But overall. Kaliwa was just “ok”. Good enough to come back for a happy hour perhaps if im in the area, definitely NOT good enough to excuse the 4 hour drive i took to visit. 3/5 stars for me in terms of food. 4 total because the atmosphere and service were great. The drinks were also amazing. Top notch drinks.

We walked in an hour early from our reservation with happy hour looming and were easily seated at a bar top. Music is like a FIFA20s loading screen. We started with the Korean Fried Chicken Wings which were seasoned well with a perfect crisp. The bulgogi fries were balanced between the kimchi and the seasoned beef, though the fries were a bit soggy. The salmon sashimi was buttery and tasted of being in Japan.
For dinner, the fried spring rolls with vinaigrette were not too greasy. Pad Thai was as expected. Pork belly was sticky and easily chewed, but the fire roasted vegetables were delightful with their accents of fire.
Our drinks: mother of dragons (perfectly spicy), the group therapy size of “gracias pancho”, and for whom the daiquiri tolls.
All HH drinks were decently priced and the daiquiri was just a smidge better than the ordinary dish.
Our server Marvin was attentive for HH and dinner service. Service was second to none for the Warf area.
It’s easy to see why this establishment earned its Bib Gourmand recognition.

Pretty good. The drinks were great and service at bar was on point. Got the Gracia Pancho, was the perfect afternoon cocktail.
The lumpia was giant, which is more bang, but that means you run the very big risk of undercooking it (which it was a little).
The pork Adobo, unfortunately, wasn't as bay leaf or vinegar heavy like we're used to back home but it was its own dish and FORTUNATELY the pork was so tender, it just peeled so effortlessly off the bone and was so yummy! So it's a wash for me, given it's a different take on the Adobo.

I was visiting my daughter and son-in-law in Virginia. We love to try new places and went Kaliwa in DC for dinner. Great location on the waterfront. Food was good and the portions were generous ! We had Bibimbap, Korean Fried Wings, Garlic Fried Rice, Kare Kare (Vegetarian), Kaeng See Ew. If you are in the Washington DC area and want to try a new experience , check it out !

Kaliwa: The food shocked me. There were plenty of dishes to choose from because of the family style menu. Everything I ate was flavorful and delicious. All of it even looked delicious as you can see in the pictures. I have been working on a colorful diet and Kaliwa gave just that. The space we sat in was lit up and pretty and our waitress was awesome.

Brian A. Was our server. Really friendly and professional. He was attentive and fast. It was a busy evening on Saturday. Food was tasty but what is listed on menu as “traditional” Kare Kare was not so traditional in flavor and taste. It was good and I enjoyed it. However anticipating a traditional cuisine vs what your get got disappointed me. Flandan dessert cake was super yummy. Decor and ambiance was on spot and enjoyed the vibe. All the rest of our food was good too. But why no coffee??

We were exploring where to eat at the Wharf and this restaurant caught our attention. We shared the fried whole fish and it was delicious. The fish is huge so not for just 1 person, it's a perfect dish to share. I also ordered the Penichillin cocktail and it was really good. Service was fine though some waitress could be more attentive

Went for happy hour with a friend, 3-6 FYI
We ordered the Salmon, Avocado Bites, bbq chicken and the shrimp pad Thai, service was good, food was great as well. We also had the Group Therapy (group ) drinking option other than it being too much ice for me it did the job. I forgot the drink name but it was pink and the tequila can sneak up on you lol.
