This is an authentic first class Indian cousin located at 14 & U, NW of Washington DC. We were party of 9 when we decided to go there & have dinner. We were so delighted with the aroma & taste which took us on a journey back home. For example prawn kabob, lal goasht & lamb Karahi are so tender that it would melt in your mouth. It’s just hard for me to describe the chatni & appetizers we had before dinner. I have not had it for ages (30+ years). Same evening, we had the honor of meeting the kind harted gentleman named Mr. Vipal, the owner of the Pappe. I have found a place to eat forever. I will say thank you to Mr. Vipal for making our evening so memeoriable.
Pappe is the best thing to happen to Logan Circle in years! The decor is gorgeous yet welcoming and the food is amazing. I love that you can get side portions of dishes that most restaurants serve only as entrees. More opportunity to try a little of everything! I had the samosas (and still think of them and the lovely dipping sauces daily ), the vegetable korma, and both dals. Absolute perfection. The best Indian fare I've ever had and at reasonable prices. The staff is super friendly to boot. I'm so excited for this great new place and can't wait to go back again and again.
Really yummy Indian food. We were a party of six, food and service was top notch. I got the butter chicken and was really good. Creamy and very flavorful. Definitely recommend this place. Cheers to the chefs, management & servers!
Spicy chicken tikka and Chicken pista korma were exceptional. Dal Makhani was good. But the garlic naan had uncooked garlic slices. I mean I am not a chef but pretty sure we should at least cook them as its called ‘garlic naan’. Beers were not chilled but a little cool.
Small and cute place to have a meal with a few friends. The dishes are packed with flavor and made well, shown in the representation for the soul food feel of this cuisine. The seasonal cooking adds to the changing flavors of this excellent menu selection. I think the portions are perfect so that you aren’t stuffed after a full meal.
(Spicy Chicken Tikka and a garlic naan are highly recommended and pictured)
The best lamb biryani I’ve ever had. I tried Lamb biryani in different countries (Dubai, UAE, Istanbul,Turkey.etc.) but this Pappe DC proved me that they had the best.. Kudos to the chef.. i will definitely come back when i go to DC.
The ambiance is very nice !
Thali’s are very nice , good way to taste multiple Indian dishes.
Garlic naan was very good. Lamb kabab and Crab pav are good.
Space in the booth for 4people is tight and service could improve.
Outstanding food and staff! Every time I have come here I have felt welcome and satiated. The warm atmosphere and impeccable service is truly unrivaled. The food comes out with all the authenticity and comfort I look for in Indian cuisine. Hats off to the chef, cooks, servers, bartenders, and managers that all contribute to orchestrating this symphony of Indian cuisine.
P.S. Get the cocktails, they are truly wonderful!
This is one of the best restaurants I have eaten in this year. The drinks were excellent and beautifully presented. The food was fragrant, perfectly portioned and beautifully presented. The restaurant, itself is magical. The decor is exquisite and yet comfortable. But the best thing about Pappe is the staff. They all constantly helped each other without anyone of them ever having to ask for help. They worked seamlessly together like a family that authenticly likes and respect each other. It's such a rare thing to see in a restaurant. And the happiness and cogeniallity of the staff create an atmosphere of warmth that made everything even more enjoyable. I am so impressed.
The naan was unbelievable!! Both types we got were super yummy. Everything was good. I wasn’t a big fan of the mango mojito but everyone else loved it.
We went here with a family of six, did reservation upfront. The atmosphere is nice with Indian music in the background. The food here taste really good but the quantity is less for the price (expect $50 - $80 pp). We ordered Dahi puri (recommended), aloo tikki chaat (recommended), samosa chaat (recommended), Malai chicken tikka (taste is good but you get 3 small pieces for $15.99), bhindi do pyaza (recommended), garlic daal fry (average), laal maas (recommended), garlic naan (recommended). The deserts and drinks were also amazing.
100/10 for Sami too! It was an amazing dining experience - delicious food and all the vibes!
