I went late on a Wednesday with colleagues after getting into DC. Cozy Salvadorian -Mexican spot for snacks. I ordered the Pollo al Cilantro and Loroco con Queso Pupusa (but the pupusa never came; the ones my colleagues ordered looked good.) The cilantro chicken was hearty and comforting and I'd order that again. Service was solid and handled by multiple staff, and that may be where the second part of my order got lost even with follow up. I was still full from what I ordered so no harm. I also tried some plantains and fried pork my colleagues ordered. The pork had great flavor but seemed a little over done. The plantains were good. Overall a good experience.

I'm a Veggie Foodie visiting from PHX, AZ. This is hands down the BEST Salvadorian Restaurant I've ever experienced. Great service, the food was timely and perfect. The popusas were delicious, the Avocado Salad was amazing, and they even had a decent wine selection.... Excellent ! 👌👍

You can't got wrong with the pupusas, the bean & cheese, chorizo & cheese, and pork & cheese are my go-to choices. I've also had the fajitas a couple of times and they were so good, it's a lot of food though, I couldn't finish everything on the plate. We always get an order of the guacamole when we go and it's top notch!

Been here a few times but more recently for brunch. They had a paddy’s day special with a green (spinach) pupusa. It was really good along with their very addicting chips and salsa. Waitress was attentive which was nice. The reason for 4 stars is the customer service side. A lady was sitting one table over with no headphones blasting whatever she was watching being very rude and inconsiderate of others. I asked the hostess to kindly ask her to turn the volume off - not an outlandish request. Idk if the hostess was too shy or just didn’t care but she pawned the request off on a male co worker who went over, said something quick and went away. The volume was still as loud as ever. Great food but the staff need to understand it’s standard practice not to allow patrons to listen to music or videos at full volume without headphones.

Great vegan options. I got 3 pupusas that were delicious, albeit on the softer side than my liking. It did take time to find the server for our check and for orders even at a slower period of the night but the food and drinks made up for it.

It's been said,, "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." If this statement showed up in the form of people it would be Catherine and Sonja, two of the most hospitable employees at El Tamarindo. I'm like many people: I enjoy good food from all walks of life, but I'll be honest when it comes to Elsalvadorian dining I'm not quick to just go any where because far too often the employees recognize that I do not speak Spanish nor do I look like them, thus the way they try to treat me is less than welcoming. But here, here EVERYBODY is somebody and the food is EXCEPTIONAL just like the service. It's no wonder they won a "2021 DC Best" award. So go ahead and check them out. Please tell Catherine and Sonja I send my love and that I sent you. They'll take real good care of you.

Good Guacamole, Delicious Pupusas and some excellent fried plantains. The food here really is very, very good. If you haven't been, you should go. The service can be a little slow but it's worth the wait.

Get the puposas!!! This hidden gem was delicious! They have plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. We sat outside and had a great time! They do accept reservations! Alllll the food was delicious! We got the trio dips and chips for appetizer, and a craft of the margarita! Everything was soo good! Definitely recommend getting the puposas- I got the chirizo and cheese and it was good! All the puposas are made to order!! The tamalas are very good too! Ohhh and the plantains were soooo yummy! Service was great & friendly!

We've been coming here on and off for nearly a decade. It's a small and intimate restaurant. Chips and salsa upon arrival. I highly recommend the yucca con chicharrón. Both yucca and chicharrón were cooked to perfection. We ordered pupusas- spinach, shrimp, frijoles and queso. All were delicious. The pupusas weren't greasy like we all know pupusas can be. The frijoles were a little bland. Overall, we were happy with the food and service. They're welcoming and owners are invested. They care about your experience. We'll be back!
