Must have country style breakfast with best customer service
Best diner type, greasy spoon in DC.
Good coffee. Good food. Sausage patty was great. Side of fruit was high quality and substantial. Plus chill cat strolling about. Family run good people. What's not to like?
One of the only diners open for breakfast on a Monday morning. Prices were very reasonable. The friendly cat roams the restaurant and even has his own seat reserved at the bar. Food came out very quickly and was tasty. Hot coffee. Good spot for breakfast near Capital Hill.
I love this spot! Solid local dive/diner with the usual breakfast specials, lunch or dinner options, or something fun like bulgogi or Thai tea if you’re not looking for the classics. The staff are super friendly and attentive, including Pete the cat, and they made sure I never ran out of coffee and was happy multiple times during my meal. I really enjoyed the chili, it had a nice kick to it, and my side of fries was really fresh and crispy. Prices are also super reasonable.
Great little spot when you want something fast and easy. The menu is clear, the service is fast and you can be in and out in no time.
This is a fast paced place but if you know what you’d like, it’s worth a stop.
Please pet the cat!
Quick service, great coffee & food served in an intimate, casual diner location right on the Hill. Check your ego at the door.

A great place to get breakfast or lunch right near the Capitol Building and Library of Congress. Lots of good choices. Friendly and fast service too!
I would give 10 stars but 5 is the most. Was seated quickly and order was taken immediately. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese sandwich. It was the most delicious sausage I’ve ever had. Food came out very fast. I saw someone with a milkshake so I decided to try one too. It was a very good handmade chocolate milkshake with ice cream and chocolate syrup. Everything is reasonably priced. I will be returning.
Amazing stop for breakfast and lunch. The decor is great. Was not expecting an incredible amount of excellent quality food choices. A must stop when in town.
This is a traditional greasy spoon, which is indeed very high praise. It’s small but there’s outside seating, which people use in sub 50° cold in the morning. Great politico watching—you’ll see plenty of familiar or even famous faces here.
This is the best diner in DC. I am from New Jersey. Don’t come here if you want white glove service and fancy food. Come here if you want bottomless coffee, hearty, greasy, simple and delicious breakfast food, and an authentic hole in the wall atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re in a secret meeting spot from House of Cards. This is the perfect Sunday morning hangover spot.
