A true speakeasy !!! Hard to come by now that they are popularized. Unmarked door, looks like a vacant building. But once you get in it’s a pre-prohibition theme and they really stick to it - they won’t serve a drink that didn’t exist at that time (I.e. espresso martini). I recommend a reservation.

Squint at the door with an eye to leave the street chaos behind you. Yes, it is that door, just as (hopefully) unassuming as your expectations as a speakeasy. You find it unlocked.
A friendly face greets you and finds you a place. The staff are knowledgeable and help you find a drink that suits your preferences. The ambiance offers you a recuse from Georgetown, if only for a while.

Cute, nice, quaint spot. Very relaxed and intimate speakeasy. The bartender Dwayne was amazing! Great drinks and good vibes I will definitely be back.

Marvelous little speakeasy with an amazing staff! Their cocktails are uniquely seasonal, but they are great at coming up with options catered to your palate as well. When you want to branch out and try new flavors or spirits, this is a great place to do it!

Nighttime Shenanigans at it's Finest 💯
If you're on the hunt for a classic speakeasy with excellent cocktails, bartenders and atmosphere - This is a must visit 🥃🍸
We went here with some friends after a show at the DC Improv - and we were impressed to say the least. Great place for crafted cocktails and conversations can easily be had.
Everyone loves hunting for this place - But it's relatively easy to find.
Highly recommend 👍👍

This hidden gem boasts an extensive cocktail menu, creating an enchanting ambiance with the warm glow of candles throughout. Whether it’s a romantic date or a lively gathering with friends to commemorate special occasions, this venue is the ideal choice. Moreover, the amiable staff is always eager to assist and answer any inquiries you may have.

Former speakeasy with tasty drinks and a fantastic #atmosphere. Drinks were tasty. Although they don't serve dinner, the snack food was delicious. The fries were spicy and are highly recommended.
Make sure you have the address, as there is no signage.

Fun selection of cocktails BUT you can't get a Gibson despite the name! It's not an issue, they only make pre-1920s cocktails I think.

I've visited The Gibson twice now, and I have to say I truly love this place. I like the hidden entrance, the drinks and most importantly the atmosphere! The lighting and decór was just so... intimate. I also liked the 2 hour time limit. Keeps everything fresh and moving. If you don't see something you like on the drink menu, the bartenders are more than willing to work to find you a drink that suits you. And the servers are well informed about the drinks and gave excellent recommendations. Everything was to the table promptly. My date and I never really wanted for anything. Well, except for more drinks! Worth a visit or two, or twenty!
P.S the avocado toast and jerk chicken skewers are a must!

Great, intimate spot for a drink. I've been here at least a half dozen times and can't wait to come back.
The bar and service are top notch. If you aren't in love with what is on the menu, chat with your server and they often can make something perfect and unique for you.

Nice place to go for drinks for a small party. Dark intimate setting with delicious cocktails made by friendly and engaging mixologists. Walked by the door the first time using GPS. If you go early, there is a chance you may get a spot at the bar. Your. Est bet is scheduling the reservation through the website. Loved this place.

Super cute little "speakeasy" that's a great spot to meet friends, a date or pop in on your own. The staff were friendly and professional - and surprisingly quick with what seemed like very complicated cocktails. Would definitely go back!

Small indoor speakeasy with great vibes and outdoor patio that probably picks up at night. The entrance feels like a speakeasy. The drinks were solid. Make sure to have reservations for weekends

A very very cute speakeasy. Our server Dwayne was most friendly and offered to help us take our one year anniversary picture.
Ordered two rounds of drinks and was very satisfied with the dealer's choice.

My favourite cocktail bar in the world. Must sit downstairs. Don’t come to watch the game, or get cnn news updates, come to escape into mixed drink heaven.
Jeannette Tibbetts
Great place for special drinks and a wicked atmosphere! Pricey but totally worth it. Bartenders are wonderful!

Love this place. I was there on the opening night and first week opening. A must if you are in DC.
Gail Gibson
Dark cosy and just as we imagined a speakeasy to be. Friendly service, great tunes and a big selection of cool named cocktails. Do book a table though as it gets busy. A great night out - highly recommend.

If you are in the mood for sipping on yummy cocktails in a dark and cosy, candle-lit environment lounging on comfortably plush seating, then the Gibson is one if the better Speakeasys you can treat yourself and loved ones to in the DC area
Christine Tarrant Gardella
Intensely intimate and finally a spot that knows something about atmosphere and intimacy in DC. dining. Though the cocktails can be a bit medicinal I am always open for the adventure that awaits when ordering.
Carl Rodela
The staff was fantastic, very accommodating and friendly. Reasonably priced.
Doryus J. Jones
Low key, secretive, and cool. It's a unpretentious hidden upscale bar.
Zahra Javan
One of the best place! I enjoyed my time very much! I will go back again.

The Gibson is a spot I always check out when I'm in the DMV area. The atmosphere is always chill, the staff is very accommodating and the bartender Franklin Jones is amazing.
LaTrisha Chappin
A bit too cozy and for a place where all they serve is drinks, none of the 5-6 drinks my party tasted were good...cute interior though and the lounge area upstairs was a good place to relax after being in the seating area downstairs. And dont go hungry. ..they only offer 2 paninis nuts and olives on the snack menu.
Craig Houghton
I hesitate to put out the word about this place because I don't want a whole bunch of losers showing up and ruining it
Bill Lehan
Tim you were awesome. Thanks a lot we had a great time.
Joshua David
Great speakeasy, really off the beaten path and provides a cool alternative to the typical u street fair. I especially appreciated the back patio atmosphere.
Amanda Connolly-Flangerhanger
This place was very cool. I loved every minute we were there. While visiting DC my friends got us a reservation here after dinner, they were raving about it because that's where they went on their first date. And I was not disappointed. It's a classy Speakeasy, that is next to a conjoint for restaurant but the entrance is separate and not marked. The drinks and appetizers were superb and extremely unique. The atmosphere was enchanting and even though there were many seat options and they are always busy it was still quite enough to hear your party. They have this wonderful 2 hour rule where your reservation is only good for 2 hours and after that they ask you to leave. It was very classy and an overall wonderful experience. I will be going back the next time I am in town!
Josh Seaburg
Wandered in from out of town after a gig. Martini was top notch, as was the service and the fernet.
Trina Just-Fine Barnes
The Gibson is a awesome spot to chill. The bartender is awesome what can i say; you get what you ask for and more. My first time ever at the Gibson, I enjoyed myself with family and friends. Will be back soon
Richard O'Connor
The bartender upstairs asked "Do you trust me?" "Sure.."...best Manhatten I ever had...
