We went in hesitant because we were the first of the evening crowd. It didn’t take but 10 minutes and the whole place was packed. It is a small restaurant but every table was taken, many of them by locals that come often because of how great the food and the environment is. There are plaques all over the walls and pictures in the hallway of famous/well known people who have eaten there. This is some of the BEST ITALIAN FOOD I have ever eaten. We had fettuccine Alfredo and a seafood pasta that were amazing and the the cheesy garlic bread will forever haunt my dreams. Also, the wine was great too. This was the “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” story for us because although it looks quiet and quaint from the street, it had the most delicious food and warm family feel from the people there. I wouldn’t go back to D.C. to see anymore museums but I might go back to eat here again.
Probably the best service I ever got at a restaurant. Very professional establishment we were asked if we wanted to check our coats after being seated. My girlfriend got gnocchi pasta which was probably the best she ever had, and I got the rigatoni. We got tiramisu for dessert and it was delicious!
Very cozy and warm family style ambience with festive decor. Food was great!! We finished everything sauce included haha. Recommend!
Really good restaurant. Went here for my bff's birthday dinner and it was great!. It is small and so don't expect to seat a big party without reservations. Our waitress was very kind and she brought out a birthday cake for my friend and got the staff and restaurant to sing her happy birthday! The food was really good and so was the wine selection!
We had dinner at this cosy Italian restaurant last night. The pasta were surprisingly delicious especially the linguine frutti di Mare, the taste of the seafood sauce is outstanding. Our meat eater ordered the Osso Buco and he loved its tenderness and rich flavour of beef. A must try restaurant in DC!
Awesome place. I would absolutely recommend. We had the Salmon Pasta and Tomato Gnocchi and then Tiramisu to finish which was lovely. 10/10. Fast - friendly service and such a cute vibe! We got lucky as we were walk ins and they were quite busy, so would definitely recommend to book ahead!
Service was amazing as was food. Enrico our waiter was very attentive and helpful! I would recommend this for any authentic Italian near DuPont Circle.
This place is just wonderful. I’m travelling for work and found that place on my first night and I must say, I was not disappointed.
The place is a lovely, cozy room in a basement with brick walls, original Italian decorations, and pictures of the restaurant family. It’s has a very comfy and cozy ambiance, and about 20 tables.
They always have 4 to 5 waiters, including the owner, serving those 20 tables. So you can tell that service is a priority for them and it shows in the attention to details that they show. I am a very heavy water drinker (I can drink up to 2-3 litres of water with a meal) and my glass was always refilled and full, something I can rarely say. The staff is so genuinely nice and care so much for their customers, and I was surprised to realize that everybody recognized me when I came back the second time. The owner will also go from tables to tables to chat with the customers and make sure everything is perfect.
As for the food, I’ve lived in Montreal, Ottawa, Sudbury (Ontario) and Thunder Bay (Ontario). 4 cities with huge Italian communities and a plethora of Italian restaurants. So believe me when I say that this place has NOTHING to envy them about. It feels like being in Italy, and the place feels like being a guest in an Italian family.
I’d go back there anytime, and I’d ask them to cater my wedding in a heartbeat!
I would suggest to make a reservation, as the restaurant is small and the tables limited, but the staff did their best to squeeze me in as I had none.
Thank you to the lovely owner and her family ❤️
This place is intimate and cute. Great for casual family dinner and would make a great date spot. The food is very tasty. The portion size is fine, and worth the price. However when someone asked about the dessert, the server said they're not "American size portions." I still thought it was a perfectly fine portion of tiramisu and one of the best I've eaten. Service was kind of slow but we also had a group of 20 people for a restaurant that only holds 30 so we probably overwhelmed them. It's cool that they have names on the walls of the regulars customers.
Food is excellent. We were 4 for dinner. Two had pasta dishes, one had a fish dish, one had a veal dish. Each was excellent. The staff is great. Great little dining room. Altogether a wonderful experience.
