Best Ethiopian food I've had in forever. Don't forget to wash your hands before dinner! Lighting is also a little dim in the evening, so us old folks might have a need of a little pocket light, lol. Staff was very friendly and constantly circulated with beverages and to make sure we had everything we needed, including bringing us plenty of bread. The service was quite good! Flavors were perfectly spiced, and the variety of the sampler platter was fantastic. Fish was also deliciously seasoned.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff was very friendly! We got two plates of samplers for two, I was pretty big and you got to take little crepes (injera) and scoop the samplers. Great experience to eat with your fingers. The food was not too spicy but tasteful. Portions were large and we took a box of leftovers with us. The vegetarian samplers was to die for. Gratuities are included in the bill and the staff from this family owned business is highly professional. Background music was enjoyable (from the golden years of Ethiopian jazz).

What a treat it was to go here. Better than expectations. They were so kind to us and we had a baby which isn’t always the easiest customer to work with, but they were very helpful and understanding. They also are very attentive to our needs always had water in our cup and they checked in with us multiple times.

We were on a food crawl so shared the veggie sampler for one and it was still a lot of food for 4! We had it with the fried fish. Yellow lentils, red lentils, greens, potatoes, fresh tomatoes and njara. Some of the best Ethiopian food I’ve had. I didn’t have it, but my friend said the coffee was just like in Ethiopia. My only issue is out fish (a part of the same dish…we didn’t order a second dish) came like 15, 20 minutes later, when we were just about done. It was fresh and hot but took way too long. Not enough to derail a positive review.

Samplers are great for the table, $20-$40 for a two person sampler meal. Super vegan friendly with most samplers and individual meals vegan. Very clean restrooms!

Went with a couple of my friends here. We do this thing where we try different kinds of food, and this sparked our interested as one of us is vegetarian and this place has many options. One of the dishes we got was the vegetarian sampler which tasted really good. We didn’t know how to eat it at first but our server kindly taught us how to and checked on us to make sure everything was good. All the food was cleared! The environment is also very cozy.

First time trying Ethiopian food and it was fantastic! Delicious food, wonderful and friendly service, great Ethiopian beers and wine. Our favourites were the lentil sambusas, the fish, the beef tibs, awaze tibs, and the St George lager. We will definitely come again

It was our first Ethiopian restaurant experience. We got the vegetarian sampler with fish, plus beef tibs and lamb curry, also bee'dvine honey wine. We thought everything was delicious! Food wasn't overly spicy hot, which was good as I'm a little sensitive to spicy hot stuff. Kids were able to eat most dishes without complaint. Kids especially liked the fish. We actually ordered a second one. Friend who was with us was slightly disappointed with the beef tibs as he has had them in other Ethiopian restaurants and it was usually prepared differently. I also particularly enjoyed the wine. It was very smooth and sweet, but not too sweet. Staff were friendly, interacted with my 5-year old and answered questions about Ethiopian decor as well as wrote kids names in Ethiopian letters. With regards to kid friendliness in service, they had high chairs but not plastic cups. Individual eating plates were melamine, so that was a non-issue. Location was convenient too. Only a few blocks from Union station. You can take the H Street trolley for free if you don't want to walk from Union. All in all, would go again, either to this restaurant or another Ethiopian restaurant.

Delicious good and friendly service. Hearty portions at fair prices. Notes that they include 20% gratuity on ALL checks.

The meat is so succulent and flavorful! Ethiopian food always seems to be great, but this place is exceptional.
