Modern eatery with a menu to match. We arrived during brunch and the menu was varied enough to please everyone. The cocktail, beer and wine list was quite extensive, and because it was brunch, there were also bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. The restaurant has a cool vibe with concrete and wood accents. The wait staff is pleasant and attentive. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The atmosphere was welcoming and there were many people enjoying the bar scene here
The food was fantastic. We had the shrimp and grits, the pasta and the rootbeer pork chop. Everything was flavorful, interesting, new and delicious.

Late review: I came for DC restaurant week. The skirt steak was good. Had to pay extra on top of the normal restaurant week price. The soups were good. I would come here just for the savory butternut squash bisque! Highly recommend the soup. I'll be back for the soup!

I’d say this was a decent meal, but not mind-blowing. The cocktails were good. Overall it was a bit overpriced. We split a couple appetizers, the lamb chop special, and the key lime pie. The pie was the best part :)

A very popular place in the Foggy Bottom area, you need to make reservations if you want a table. However, if you are on your own or in a small group, the seats at the bar seem to turn over quickly. I only stopped in for a quick drink and bite to eat but I found the atmosphere and decor fun and lively. The staff were very helpful and engaging. They have a varied drink menu here and a good wine selection. Be forewarned, the Denizens Third Party Triple on tap, strong! They also offer a great Happy Hour selection at very reasonable prices.

Came here for a Saturday brunch. The staff was hospitable, restaurant clean and food was good. Huge drink list which is always good too with lots of specialty cocktails. The brunch pretzels were a steal and I loved the flatbread.

District Commons is a great place to enjoy dinner or happy hour near GWU. This restaurant can become very busy particularly the bar area. District Commons has some very good happy hours which may be why. They also have oysters on the half. Districts Common has a variety of dinner offerings from hanger steak to salmon. My steak was cooked to order and the asparagus was a good accompaniment. The only downside was the service was spotty and our server disappeared so we were left without water or refills.

Food was presented wonderfully but some dishes (like the ravioli) lacked flavor. The service and atmosphere here was excellent. Pretzel bread was my favorite appetizer and the scallops were good as well.

Great food! Great service! Great beer! It can get really loud in there but...it's hoppin' instead of dreary. The place is set up really well and the menu is a twist on comfort food. The shrimp and grits, portobella mushroom, brick pressed chicken, and the tagliatelle are all recommendations my pallet makes to you! Wash it down with an Anderson Valley Summer Solstice (Cream Ale) and you'll be a happy camper, too! Great place to go before a show at the Kennedy Center.

This was a great place and setting for brunch. There were a lot of food options and bottomless is always a must. The waitstaff was helpful and attentive. The shrimp and grits was amazing!

Everything was perfect today for our Sunday brunch. First time in this restaurant and we left very pleased. The food was great, my steak melted right in my mouth; great medium rare taste!
The price was reasonable given the quality of food and service.
José, our waiter, took care of us in a friendly way. He was quick, efficient, and had decent knowledge of the menu. The quesadilla he suggested for my girlfriend won her over with the spices and flavors of the sauce.
We had opted for the bottomless mimosas and he made sure we never saw the bottoms of our mimosas; true bottomless mimosas.

Wonderfull place to have dinner with friends.
You should certainly taste the meat and the mussels. The portions are big, so you won't leave being hungry for sure.
It is usually quite crowded in the evening, so you better reserve the table in advance.
The service is nice.

We came here for dinner. It was very nice and the service was spot on. We had red curry mussels, they were really good! I wish the portion was larger, mussels are cheap- that pot should have been filled! I had the shrimp and grits- that was really nice and a good portion. The GF had the fig and pig flat bread, she liked it. A really good beer selection and nice wines too. The bread is good but an extra bread is $1. FYI. But worth it...

The food was phenomenal and service was very quick although slightly strange. They kept taking away and replacing silverware seemingly at random. Sometimes I'd have 2 forks, sometimes I'd have 1 fork and 1 knife. Then they'd come and take a clean fork and replace it with a knife. I'm pretty sure they were trying to make sure we had the right utensils for the dish we were about to have but it seemed very random.
Overall I'd still highly recommend the restaurant

The food was excellent and the service is on point, the only thing missing from this brunch experience is some music, even if it's low background music
Our waitress Nicole was on point, we had a large party and yet our glasses never got a chance to get empty

Seriously a great restaurant and extra stars for a drink menu celebrating the Nationals World Series win: specialty drinks & prices for the entire restaurant instead of just at the bar. The best corn & crab chowder - and a generous portion, served hot too like soup should be too. Delicious Atlantic salmon with grilled cauliflower and a puree as well as chard and golden raisins. Mom had the cheeseburger and fries (which I ate most....). Saw acclaimed chef & owner Jeff Tunks behind the line - always impressive to see that. Place was 100% full and so was the bar - great buzz here.

Our server was really nice. My crankcase sandwich was one of the better ones I've had, the sweet pretzel starter was like dessert and really hit the spot for the fall. I was told the Monte Cristo was also delicious.

A great pre- Kennedy Center dinner at the bar. A great bar and restaurant vibe. Seth, our barkeep, was amiable and very helpful with suggestions and he fixed excellent cocktails. Happy Hour has great food and drink specials. The Smoked Trout Deviled Egg appetizer was very good. Our Salmon with fresh seasonal vegetables was excellent. Mushrooms, as a side, were Delish. Our Caramelized Chocolate Bread Pudding with Bourbon Caramel Ice Cream was deadly delicious. An altogether perfect experience

I had been to this restaurant before on previous visits to Washingtons DC, but never again.
They brought me the wrong dish of Salmon when I ordered Scallops and thought that a couple of dessert bites would make up for it.
Then when I tried to use an Open Table certificate the Manager John Hendrix was more rude than the Palace Guard when I tried to scale the wall at Buckingham Palace.
The scallops I ordered where good, but the Pressed Chicken dish my date had lacked flavor.
Certainly gone down hill since my last visit and not worth a visit again.

The food was amazing and the service was excellent. My friends and I went for brunch and ordered the bottomless mimosas which was a great deal for only $16! I believe our waiter was Tom... bald guy with glasses? He was awesome, I can't say enough good things about him. He recommended yummy things on the menu like the huevos rancheros as well as the Boston cream pie. We will definitely be going back!

I found the food mediocre at best. I ate Saturday brunch. It seems to me that brunch food is pretty hard to destroy; but District Commons somehow managed. Even my cappuccino was bad -- that was the first to arrive at the table, and should have been a sign of what was to come. I went with basic Eggs Benedict: it was oddly spicy and served with a mountain of cold potatos. I think this is a place where volume is used to make up for poor cooking. I won't be back. Nice views of Washington Circle though.

We stumbled upon District Commons after another restaurant nearby wanted to seat us outside at 95 degrees. After 3 minutes of melting and with Kennedy Center tickets, sweating like crazy was not happening.
We walked up the block and around the corner and District Commons had no problems seating us in at an inside air conditioned table. What followed was simply amazing! My wife ordered the scallops dish and I ordered the meat loaf. My wife said the scallops were the best she has ever eaten. My meat loaf was very good as well. We ordered the pretzel with beer mustard. It was simply awesome!
Edwin was a spectacular server and we both highly recommend him.
A new regular dining establishment pre Kennedy Center events.

Highly recommend this place, we give it a 4.5...We had the jumbo lump crab cakes and the cowboy ribeye, they were both outstanding!! The reason we could not give it a 5 was because they do not serve bread, they have a pretzel bread which you have to order, which we did, it was just ok, not great, and my fiancee must have bread with his meal... As I said though, our meals were outstanding!

Decent selection on the menu, but the food was bland and we had three different dishes at the table. Maybe they don’t have salt and other seasonings in their kitchen. Won’t be gong back.

The environment was very nice, the food was excellent and my drink
ginger ale with a twist of lemon was like wow.

We went for brunch on Mother’s Day. My son’s Pain Perdu (Fench toast) was about average, but my Huevos Rancheros and my husband’s shrimp and grits were a cut above average. My other son’s burger was deemed “really yummy”, and the thick cut fries were made with care - a little crisp on the outside, potato-y and tender on the inside. The blueberry smoothie that my sons (9-yr-old twins) shared was also nice (fruity and not too sweet). We feel happy to finally have tried Disctrict Commons since it’s walkable from our house. We’ll definitely add it to our rotation of sit-down restaurants.

Sunday evening. Don't think the lead chef was cooking. Pretty mediocre meal all around. Rib eye not even an inch thick $45. Salmon served over polenta that tasted more like grits and red cabbage $23. Who thought that up? Scallops dry and unappetizing $27. Lackluster wine list.

I had the skirt steak, but I substituted scalloped potatoes for the fries and my wife had the duck. Both were amazing. We followed the meal by sharing the chocolate cake. We were fighting over the last spoonful. She won of course. The dining area was a little loud but with food that delicious who wants to talk.
Teresa Marchese
Food good. Service not so much. They appeared completely understaffed for a Saturday night. As with many DC restaurants, so loud conversation impossible.

Fantastic! Great table, positive vibe, delicious food for kids and adults, and a variety of cocktails. Tom our server~funny, helpful, and efficient.

Fine flavorful food and professional friendly service. Good selection of beers on tap and in the bottle. I have had their sliders and their meatloaf so far. Plan to sample more today for lunch. I wish I could teleport this place back to the Twin Cities.

Service could have been better. But the setting, the range of both food and beverage, and the taste and quality of the food was hard to beat.
