Everything about this place was great. Service was great! Food tastes amazing! Best hanger steak I've had in DC so far. This meal ensures I will be returning again. Thank you!
The heat in DC has been brutal these past few weeks. I like hot weather, but when temperatures creep above 95 and decide to rendezvous with the district’s infamous humidity, I have to tap out and stay inside. One of my favorite ways to enjoy the city without sweating to death is an air-conditioned brunch followed by a trip to a museum. Our latest combination was a good one – brunch at Central followed by a trip to the National Air and Space Museum.
We decided to get together with friends for brunch and we met at Central. Our friends have dined at Central many times and I can see why they like eating here! My wife and I were greeted by a bubbly hostess who immediately offered us a drink of cold water! I guess we appeared to be a bit parched since we walked a distance to get to the restaurant. Despite the heat we decided to sit outside in the pleasantly shaded dining area. The brunch menu included a 3 course price fix meal and had many delicious options. The fried chicken and waffle is a house specialty and it was perfect. Central has such a diverse menu and can easily provide a delicious meal for the pickiest eater! Looking around at other patrons, we were not the only table cleaning our plates. Wait staff was great, attentive and not obtrusive. And finally, not to forget some cool, liquid refreshments..........although we chose non alcoholic drinks, Central has a $15 bottomless glass for champagne, mimosas and Bloody Mary's! Be sure to stop by, I know you will not be disappointed.
Wonderful food - just step up service a notch. Dined at Central for the second time in a month, and was reminded again that no one in Washington offers a better meal than Michel Richard. Whether it's the fried chicken, the chopped salad, or even just the bread on the table (the best you'll find in French bread outside France), the cuisine is magnificent. This will always be one of my favorites. I wish I could say the same about the service. At dinner a few weeks ago, our waiter was a bit indifferent. At lunch on a Friday with a less than full house, our waiter was absent and non-responsive. Would be great if the service could be tweaked to match the food because it is a shame to have anything less than a perfect meal here.
Gourgeres are amazing. $20 lunch special a good deal.
The mushroom rissoto and chocolate mousse is the most amazing thing ever!
Simple Food. This is simply a nice restuarant, with classic American food done better than anyone else could do it. The prices may throw people a little bit when they fried chicken or meatloaf for $25 but I promise it's worth the price. You will not leave feeling disappointed. An all around great place.
YYYUUMMMM!!!!. I went because I saw this place ranked as top fried chicken in the country. I have to say the Chick was delicious and I went with a friend so we shared it and the cooks put it on separate plates for us and it was presented very nicely. The chicken has a "stuffing like" crust and it was great. But the dipping sauce that comes with the chicken and the mashed potatoes made it a WONDERFUL meal!!! We got deviled eggs as a starter. They have a horseradish tang to them that added a little something extra. I would go again!!!
Good food and drinks. So-so service.
Warm, cozy atmosphere in the center of DC. Straightforward menu with comfort food items like meatloaf and fried chicken. I opted for the ahi tuna burger. Would have been the best tuna burger I've ever had if the bun was fresher. Otherwise the taste of the tuna was exceptional and creative. Must try the Michels chocolate bar. Must also point out the excellent wine list. Great selections of affordable wines. Will go back again.
This is by far one of my favorite places to eat in DC. Everything is so hot and fresh. So delicious. I highly recommend the goat cheese Caesar salad and fried chicken.
Glowing reviews lead us to Central where the bar area was full of boisterous patrons rooting for their baseball team - but just a few feet away was the elegant dining area, the portent of a culinary adventure where DC American cuisine meets French preparations…
The fried chicken is every bit as delicious as many reviews state - a sous vide process where the chicken melts in your mouth and crust delicately crisps never feeling, well, fried…!
Each dish pictured was perfect and the dessert, a Napoleon that was more like a most perfect Millefeuille, was dream in any language.
French Chef, Serbian floor manager, engaging wait staff - the entire team made for us a memorable evening and promised return…!
We went here for Thanksgiving dinner and it was AMAZING. From the Appetizer, main dish to the dessert everything was delicious. Service was top notch especially because it was fairly busy. I 100% recommend and will be returning for future special nights.
Great lunch spot! Lots of options and quick prep, with attentive and kind service. Kids and adults alike were happy with this meal. Book choy curry was yum! Profiteroles did not disappoint and were quite shareable.
I've been coming here during my DC visits for well over a decade. Wonderful place. It gets loud, but that's because it's lively! Not too loud mind you. 😉
After visiting DC’s Christian market, we were tired and hungry. We really enjoyed our dinner and the customer service. The venue was was and clean. We were seated right away and someone immediately came to our table and gave us water and then a few minutes later our waiter stopped by the table. Our reservation was at 6:45pm and they were definitely busy. However, we were served our food in a timely manner. Our food was delicious and the drinks were made perfect-at least for my liking. I will definitely will come back here again and I do recommend this place. Parking is also available in the same block d as the restaurant.
Atmosphere and service was amazing and efficient on top of the food being good. Waited for less than 15 minutes after placing order to get 7 dishes. Had young children with us (mature eaters) but there were even dishes for them. A little pricey but other than that I highly recommend
Amazing atmosphere and nice place for lunch! It's somewhat of a hidden gem but I'm glad I found it. I plan to visit again soon when I have more time 😄 Many thanks to Israel and everyone else on the amazing team for a good experience and nice welcome!
As a party of three, we started with the cheese puffs and these were excellent - very rich though. To start I had the lyonnaise salad and this was incredible- we have been to Lyon and this was just as delicious as there signature dish. We also had a lobster bisque special which was the best ever tasted and we have eaten a lot of them around the world. For main we all had chicken dishes and they were excellent, although the chicken schnitzel is huge-bigger than our head . Desserts were excellent too, pictures to follow :
The best crab cake I’ve ever had. General crabmeat is highlighted by the Lobster bisque served as source. Perfect combination with a glass of champagne
