Review Pitango Gelato - Washington DC

Stopped in for a quick treat back in July and the service was quick and efficient! I was able to try any flavor I wanted before making a final decision. It smells sooo good on the inside, as they also have a bakery! Looking for a quick cool down, this is your spot.

Fun flavors, good portions and decent prices. It was insanely busy over the 4th of July but the wait wasn't too bad. I was surprised by how good the mojito was! Perfect for a sweet or fruity pick-me-up while you tour D.C.

I recently had the pleasure of indulging in some of the finest gelato at Pitango, and the experience was absolutely delightful. From the moment I walked in, the cozy and inviting atmosphere set the stage for a memorable visit. The selection of flavors at Pitango is truly impressive. Ranging from classic favorites to innovative and seasonal options, there's something to cater to every palate. I found myself torn between trying the traditional pistachio and venturing into more unique choices like rosemary olive oil. The staff was incredibly patient and offered generous samples to help me make my decision. Now, let's talk about the gelato itself. Oh my goodness, each spoonful was a taste of pure artistry. The texture was incredibly smooth and creamy, a true testament to their dedication to using high-quality ingredients and authentic techniques. The flavors were vibrant and well-balanced, never too sweet or overpowering. It's evident that Pitango takes great pride in crafting gelato that honors the Italian tradition. What also stood out was the friendly and knowledgeable staff. They were more than willing to share recommendations and engage in conversations about the gelato-making process. Their passion for their craft truly shines through, making the experience all the more enjoyable. Pitango's commitment to sustainability was also admirable. I appreciated the use of eco-friendly materials and their efforts to source ingredients locally when possible. It's evident that they care not only about the quality of their product but also about their impact on the environment. In conclusion, my visit to Pitango was a journey of flavors and sensations. If you're a gelato enthusiast or just someone looking for a delightful treat, I wholeheartedly recommend Pitango. It's not just a gelato shop; it's an experience that combines craftsmanship, flavor diversity, and a welcoming ambiance. I can't wait to return and explore even more of their fantastic gelato offerings!

An easily accessible gelato shop in Penn Quarter that offers so many great non-dairy, vegan sorbets. The flavors are all delicious and the staff are incredibly friendly. It can be very crowded in the evenings and weekends, but the line moves relatively fast. Their flavors are displayed on the wall to the left when one enters and they change all the time. Out of the sorbets, the Mojito and Golden Kiwi are my favorite, but like other gelato shops, there are no wrong options. They also have a nice area to sit inside or on these windowsill benches, which are a great addition!

DELICIOUS! Pretty amazing that the staff was so efficient in getting every single order so swiftly! He knew exactly which one to open for every flavor there is without even needing labeling, and there are so many! Exactly the kind of gelato I was hoping to experience! I LOVE pistachio flavor, and it was top notch! There really isn't much difference in price between the medium size and largest size. I'd recommend going for the large size, and experience up to three flavors!

I stopped in this cute shop while I was staying in the area for a quick gelato fix. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. I got the combo of Passion Fruit and Mojito, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the two flavors meshed together. The prices seem a tad high, but it is worth it for the great flavors they have. I will definitely stop in again the next time I visit the DC area.

One of the BEST ice creams I have ever tried! Highly recommend! This place surprised me. You can taste the quality in every bite and you will not be disappointed! The black tea flavor is unique and delicious. The Pistachio flavor is rich and creamy! They are not too sweet and I could return any day!

While visiting Washington d.c. everybody wanted a little snack. So we got it at the gelato shack called Pitango. If you've never had gelato it's what ice cream wishes it could be. It was a lovely end to a lovely evening. The staff was very helpful and courteous even when I couldn't take the time to read the instructions on how to order. It tasted authentic and homemade. Treat yourself you won't regret it. Pro Tip if you are a fan of coffee and vanilla ice cream grab the Affogato.

If you are looking for the best ice cream in DC, look no further than Pitango. Their flavors are rich, creamy and natural. I recommend the pistachio, the milk chocolate, and hazelnut. Cardamom was not bad either. And don’t forget to try their almond cookies, which are literally out of this world. They are crunchy, chewy and full of almond goodness. The person who works there is super friendly and always ready to help you choose your favorite treat. Pitango is a must-visit for any ice cream lover!

Literally stop by for a refreshing dessert! Pitango gelato does it again. I usually come to pitango in the summers when I come to dc. My favooorrriiiteee flavor is the mojito - it’s such a refreshing flavor and tastes like a mojito (without the alcohol obv). They have a good variety of flavors and you can sample them! The price is probably the only thing I dislike bc it’s honestly a bit pricey. I got the small size (which you get 2 flavors with) and it was around $7.50 🥲 Inside, there is a bit of seating but it’s a small shop overall. Service is fine and the ambience is casual!

Delicious organic creamy gelato. The Stracciatella had huge chunks of delicious dark chocolate and the pistachio was creamy and perfectly flavored. Very nice staff who keep the line moving.

I got the Hazelnut and Crema flavors and they were soo creamy and rich, I absolutely loved the texture. I also sampled the Golden Kiwi flavor and tried some of my friend’s Lemon sorbet and they were both really good too. The Golden Kiwi flavor in particular stood out to me as so flavorful and fruity. The worker was so nice too and offered samples :) It was a little pricey, but worth it!

A MUST visit! All the flavors I’ve had (hibiscus, tamarind, coconut etc.) were phenomenal and extremely filled with flavor. There isn’t much seating space so be mindful of that.

Staff are super friendly and helpful with tastings. I had the chocolate and mango sorbet, both smooth and creamy. Would have liked the chocolate to be darker. Thought prices were a little high too.

It is a good ice cream place. I'm giving 4 stars because I wouldn't call it gelato per say. The best part is that the ice cream is covered up and the staff use gloves to serve. That gets a huge thumbs up from me as most ice cream places don't do that, certainly not in Europe. Overall, a good ice cream joint worth visiting if you are around and fancy some.

The staff here was very nice and helpful. We tried several before deciding on chocolate hazelnut, cherry, dark chocolate and cantaloupe Gelato. We sample the cookies as well and they were wonderful. My son got the chocolate sorbet and he loved it. This place is conveniently located next to the escape room and makes a nice treat after that experience. There was no wait and a nice spot inside to enjoy the cold treats.

Refreshing and delicious gelato that is handmade and organic. Selection is good with a few unique flavors like black tea, cardamom, orange chocolate etc. (15 flavors, 7 vegan sorbets), prices are fair ($8 for 3 scoops), ingredients are fresh and you can taste it, serving sizes are decent and they also have a cafe inside. Definitely recommend. They also allow sampling. I got the blackberry (tons of berries and it also had the seeds, orange chocolate (subtle tons of orange with dark chocolate) and cardamom (taste is quite subtle but there). I also liked the banana stracciatella and black tea ones.
