3.5 stars. Pretty decent food. Is it the best I've ever had? No, but I liked it. My dad is a vegetarian and a picky one at that, so it is hard to please him with the one veggie options most restaurants have. The veggie fried noodles dish here was a big success with him because he loved it and finished quite a bit of it!! My mom and I shared the chicken curry which was delicious too but could've done with a hint of more spice. And maybe some mushrooms :) we also had the heated sake which was very nice. Pricey, as everything in Hawaii seems to be! But I do recommend them for their food. The ambience is a typical small town bar/restaurant with wooden and antique-y things. Service is a little bit slow at times.
Loved the ambiance and the live piano music. I got the lilikoi chicken curry, pretty tasty.
Good food good service recommend a week day and request cheech as your server. Good vibes and great atmosphere.
As soon as you walk in, you can tell that it has a nice warm, friendly environment. We didn’t have a reservation ahead of time, but didn’t have to wait long at all. The food was amazing, and music was also equally as good. Our waiter was very nice, and overall, it was just a great place!
I’m from New Orleans LA. And when I tell you that Red Water Cafe is the best place to get 🥃 🍷 🍺 and the best food on the island 🏝️ and with a hard working team with the best customer service I’ve ever seen it’s more than a cafe it’s the place you have to visit when you come to the big island 🏝️. No matter where you’re at Kona, Hilo, Waimea, Captain Cook,….etc. Make your way to Red Water Cafe for a great time. I highly recommend⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That ambiance!! Drove in from Waikoloa for a family dinner with 8 on a Friday. Definitely make reservations beforehand. They had live jazz music that we really enjoyed and added to the ambiance. Their cocktail menu is diverse. I ordered a mule type drink which was a little tart but improved as ice melted. My family ordered the specials and the half portions are huge! You will be plenty full from that!
Our waiter was friendly and accommodating, the food came out in a timely fashion especially considering the large party.
This was one of the best meals I’ve had in Hawaii given the ambiance, the service, and the food. I highly recommend this restaurant and would make a point to go their again even if I were staying 2 hours away.
Really enjoyed the fresh catch of the day which was wahoo fish (ono). We were able to get a reservation no problem which was nice. Not sure the best way to describe the environment but the word “quirky” comes to mind.
I stopped in for dinner here with my boyfriend and had a great meal! They brought edamame as an appetizer and were quick to serve us and take our order. My boyfriend got the Opa special and I got the short ribs, both delicious. The inside is very cute with cushions and books as well as a small bar. The prices were about average for dinner, $20-$30, as well as the drinks. I'd recommend this place with their great food. They also had a small parking lot for easy access.
Celebrating hubbys birthday was made special by Red Water. Our service & food was excellent. Our server (Jay) was very personable and attentive.
T’was raging chilly outside and we need something to eat before heading back to Kailua-Kona. Searched for an open dining eatery and Red Water Cafe popped up. Goodness it’s along the way so we took advantage on it.
We were greeted and seated after a few minutes. Staffs are friendly and patience to us. Our starter was butternut squash soup which is so comforting and nicely made.
Fresh catch of the day was our entree: Osso Buco - fish and veggies are seasoned well. Fish meat was a bit on a dry side but still its good and tasty.
Hot tea to end our dinner and that was perfect before dealing the cold outside.
Happy eating!
