Terrapin Restaurant

We are here for the week on vacation and made reservations for dinner at The Terrapin. From the staff to the food as well as the atmosphere we really enjoyed our time here. Since it was Wednesday evening, we ordered the fried chicken dinners, but before we ordered, we tried 2 small plate pasta dishes, which were delicious. Our waitress Kylee (sp?) was very helpful and knowledgeable. For dessert sorbet and gelato with espressos topped off a great meal. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. Thank you for the great food and service.

Very nice restaurant. Went for dinner. Service was excellent. So was the ambience. My salmon sashimi appetizer was excellent. The Halibut entree was good but slightly overcooked. The shortrib rigatoni was excellent. The cacio e pepe pasta was light and flavorful. Also enjoyed the coffee and chocolate hazelnut gelato's.

The food was wonderful, perfect portions. The cocktails were great! Atmosphere was lovely, little loud inside, but outside was awesome! The service was epic! Kyleigh was amazing! Felt like my best friend by the end of dinner!! Definitely going back and taking our whole family! The food and especially service, are worth taking anyone you want to impress or spoil!! Go immediately!!

Very fancy place for a romantic dinner/date. Great place for a celebration/special occasion. Went here recently to celebrate a bday/engagement and it was a fun night. We sat outside, loved the atmosphere. Food was delicious, I got the shrimp pasta and burrata app. Can’t go wrong with affogato for dessert! And also had a great pink sangria. The wait staff was really sweet too. Everything was homemade and you could really tell.

Wow. What an amazing place! We were totally blown away. This will be a must visit on all future visits to Virginia Beach. Our server was fabulous. He was spotted on, engaging, and one of the best in the business! The food is spectacular. Compliments to the chef. Do not pass up an opportunity to try this restaurant!

We are nearby locals and have never heard of this restaurant until my wife’s co worker recommended it. We made reservations for our anniversary and was blown away by the service from the minute we walked in the door. The professionalism, how welcoming and helpful every single person was! Not to mention the detail and thought put into planning our special anniversary dinner with a custom menu and champagne toast they gave us upon arriving. The food was delicious and worth every penny! If I could give them 50 stars I would! Highly recommend! We will certainly be back! Thank you Terrapin staff for an amazing experience!

Was recommended by another guest at the hotel we stayed on vacation. A bit pricey with no kids menu, but worth every penny. The pasta was delicious, homemade, tried porterhouse for 2 and loved it. Cooked to perfection, just like we asked. Must try burrata app. Drinks were good as well although the waiter forgot to bring one of the drink orders for our paryy and we asked twice, but a very good experience overall. They make their own purified water and sparkling, and nicely surprised that we didn't get charged for it.

We enjoyed our night out with great service and delicious food. Its a relaxing ambiance and the portion size is right for this kind of restaurant. I wouldn’t say it’s romantic but we had a fantastic dinner and enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend it. 3 years after COVID-19! We came back again for a smashing dinner! We love this place! The food is delicious, terrific wine list, and fabulous service. Highly recommend this restaurant when in Virginia Beach!

One of the best meals we’ve ever had. Did the tasting menu. Standouts included tuna starter, scallops and duck. Server was very attentive and friendly. We chose outdoor seating because we are on vacation at the beach and the weather was nice. However, it turned out that the patio was on a busy road with deafeningly loud military aircrafts flying overhead. That was the only drawback of the evening.

I absolutely adore this place. The food and atmosphere - amazing. My husband and I came here for our 5th year wedding anniversary the other day. They personalized our menu too, to recognize this celebration - so sweet. We enjoyed the testing menu back in 2016 and 2018. I had to come back! I’m so happy we picked Terrapin for our anniversary. While not something we are able to enjoy often, it is definitely worth it. The tasting menu is a good option and never disappoints. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Everything was amazing…from the bread to the perfectly cooked duck…and of course, their chocolate pudding, which has been on their menu since I first came here in 2016 - there’s a reason for that ;). Thanks for the wonderful dinner!
