Fantastic Jamaican Food in St Louis Metro. The food is cook to order and it has excellent flavor.I have been to this restaurant twice and both times were takeout so I cannot commit on the experience eating at the place. But I will tell you the place is nice. The owners did a good job of creating a relaxed Caribbean/Jamaican vibe. I think it can hold 30-40 people and there is a nice small bar. Great place to hang out or bring a date (the lights are dim and romantic) and you have some reggae and dancehall music playing in the background. .As one poster said if you have Jamaican eating at the place its a good sign and even better if they are older because they know the real deal. . When I am in St Louis I make it a point to stop and enjoy good food. This gets the Real Deal rating............Peace

Jamaican Cuisine. Well I walked in and the lady at the front never asked if I wanted a seat.
She answered the phone and continued her conversation then finally asked was I ready to order, I ordered and told her I was eating here and she still never asked to seat me. So when I spoke of it..she went on to tell me of a customer that never sits down. I sat myself down. Apparently you seat yourself here after ordering at the bar.
Initially she never asked did I want any water or anything to drink. The restaurant is dimly lit, I think this is supposed to be romantic.
The waitress and any other servers are not very friendly which is not conducive to an enjoyable meal. I Finally got some water, after 13 minutes or so. Okay after about 30 minutes the bar server asked me did I want anything besides water to drink.
Something must be right here because they do have some regulars. Seems like a good place to come and have a couple of drinks.
The food was not to bad for ethnic Jamaican. I had the red snapper. Overall, I plan to go back and give them another chance. I hear the Rum Punch is pretty good, get it with an extra shot. You will be feeling good.
Everyting Irie. Drove right by the restaurant at first because the sign is hard to see. It is located in a strip mall, so not much to see from the outside. And it is small on the inside, cozy even. We had called ahead and the waitress/bartender/hostess had saved us a table.
First good sign: all the other tables were filled with Jamaicans.
Second good sign: The rum punch was tasty and had a kick.
Third good sign: The menu--so many things we wanted to try.
We had the jerk chicken wings and fried plantains for appetizer. The wings were very good charred perfectly, and the sauce was delicious. The plantains were good, but they were ripe, not green as we had assumed.
I had the Curry Shrimp. It was wonderful. The curry had just the right amount of heat. My friend had the oxtail stew. It was so good, she had to force herself to stop eating it so she wouldn't get too full. Neither of us had room for dessert.
Can't wait to come back and try more. probably the goat next time.
The best Jamaican I've ever had!. I love Jamaican food, and this, by far, tops everything I've had to date. The curried goat was fantastic, with just enough zing to cause a sweat without actual pain. The jerk was sweet & tangy. In both cases the meat was extremely tender. The plantains were fried without seasoning, but a little salt was all that was needed. Both my wife & my dishes were served with a side of cabbage that was out of this world. Everything was so fresh & flavorful, neither of us wanted to stop eating despite being full.
Go! You won't be dissappointed!
De Palm Tree is da best ting. Whenever we visit STL from Washington, DC (that's our nation's capital for you Canadians (lol)) our first stop is take-out at De Palm Tree. Is it because the owner-chef always remembers our allergies to vegetable oils except for olive oil? Note to newbies: All of the dishes that are cooked at De Palm, like the jerk chicken or the chicken curry, our two favorites, are cooked with olive oil only. Is it because the kitchen is spotless? Is it because everything is cooked to order? Is it because the side dishes, like the cabbage and dirty rice are fabulous? Or is it the chef's special jerk sauce that we always order extra of, even though it is not cheap? Answers: All of the above, and, given the great treatment we get from chef and wait staff, most of whom are Jamaican, I'm ready to fly to Kingston tonight -- run don't walk to De Palm Tree ahora -- now!
Food was excellent. It seemed that because I was redeeming a Groupon some menu items were not available. I was told only a plantain dessert was available and then told they didn't have any desserts. Not sure what more than plantains were needed but they had a case of those. Would not recommend buying any Groupon type promotion to eat here but will say that the food was excellent.
So happy. Everyone was very very nice. i got the ox tail which was delicious. my buddy got something else and he loved it too. we got four differant sodas that were all great. i recomend the ginger soda. it tastes like ginger sugar and dirt... in a goodway. its very natural tasting. I asked to use the restroom.. its in the kitchen. a very clean and organized kitchen.
Long wait for good food. I went last Saturday night, arriving with two friends at 7:00. The place was packed but we were seated within 15 minutes or so. We ordered quickly and got our appetizer about 45 minutes later, and food 30 minutes after that. So, the wait was too long -- but the atmosphere was informal and cozy. I can't speak for authenticity, but the jerk chicken was delicious, moist inside, smoky and spicy outside, served with a spicy-citrusy sauce. The wait staff is pleasant and calm, even while what must be a tiny kitchen is working furiously. We had one tip from a regular: get it carry out.

OMFG best Jamaican food I’ve ever tasted! The jerk chicken is moist, spicy, and fresh. The rice and peas, and cabbage were awesome! I had a rum punch, this is a party starter! Buy a bottle or two. The flavor was amazing, the portions are huge, and not just sides.
They also have baked red snapper, ox tails, curry goat, I can’t wait to come back and bring my family!
It takes 20 minutes for the food, and there is no inside seating or tables, but it’s worth putting up with the wait and COOF restrictions.

Wish they would have been open for dine in the food was good. Just missing a beef pattie. Otherwise I would go again staff was friendly
I had the salmon, my sister ordered the snapper, my son ordered fried platains, and my dad got the jerk wings, no complaints from any of us! The table went into silence as soon as the food arrived, it was excellent. The portions are generous and the leftovers were just as good later on that evening.

Eating here I felt like I was eating in someone's home. Very cozy, all love! Stopped here for lunch after a failed attempt to visit a other Jamaican restaurant up the road. The wait for food was a little long, but I was very pleased to be delivered a steaming hot plate of Curry Shrimp. This is a rather small place, so I would not recommend it for groups of any size, or small children (definitely no strollers). One must cut through the kitchen to get to the washroom. That could be off putting for some, but it just added to the homey feel of the restaurant for me. Will definitely visit again.

Very small and cramped hole in the wall. No AC but seems very well put together. It's also dark during the daytime inside the restaurant. I called my order in and told the guy I would be there in 20 minutes and I waited about another 10 minutes to get my food. Keep in mind it was a Friday afternoon during lunch hour time so, if you're in a hurry give them a good 30 minutes to get your food ready if you are carrying out.
Wow! Very attentive and friendly service...the food was outstanding...several good vegan options! We had fried plantains, veggie patties, okra creole plate & curried butter bean plate... both served with rice & peas and cabbage!
