I'm a 1st generation Lithuanian and I moved to Michigan City from Chicago 12 years ago and have been searching for a place for my kugelis and Lithuanian sausage and bacon buns fix...MILDA'S has the best Lithuanian food and all other kinds of food hands down!!!!! It's a place you should definitely check out!!!!!
Milda's Market is an amazing little cafe/market in Union Pier. Fresh bakery goods daily, amazing deli and vegan items too. The black bean burger is awesome...store also carries food items from over 50 countries....also Milda's sells my Photo greeting cards in her cafe too. Milda's is an an Amazing lady who runs the store. Many Lithuanians items too. Check it out. A great place to stop in your travels out in the country!
In the sprawling wasteland of sterile, soulless convenience stores and plastic delis, Milda’s Corner Market emerges as a bastion of defiant authenticity. Not just a deli; it's a damn oasis in a desert of mundane munchies, a fever dream of gourmet delicacies. As you traverse its aisles, every item sings a song of rarity, a siren's call to the culinary adventurer. The prices? Not the highway robbery one might expect from such a treasure trove, but a reasonable toll for entry into a world of flavors. And let me tell you about the bacon buns, my friend. A revelation. A mind-altering, taste-bud-tantalizing experience that redefines the very essence of 'surprise'. Each bite is a delicious trip, a roller coaster of sensations. If there's any semblance of sanity left in you, venture into Milda’s and embark on a gastronomic journey that defies the constraints of ordinary deli experience. This isn't just food; it's an edible manifesto against the dull and the mundane.
Cute little place! Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich before hiking and they were yummy! Couple tables outside as well. Has lots of grocery items if needed.
This place was around when I first started walking. It's evolved into a fine market with eclectic selection in a small town. The deli produces delicious sandwiches, my choice, the Reuben. The freezer is stocked with a variety of cool drinks. There's a Lithuanian type of ice cream bar that's wonderful. There are also finely decorated Easter eggs next to the choice of baked goods.
Always so perfect.... craft sodas, best beer and be sure you get into that deli-case, her help rocks her recipes!!!!
Milda’s makes good sandwiches and hoagies! They have this Lithuanian thing going on inside with a Lithuanian map on the Wall and cookies from the Old country.
While I was waiting for my turkey sub (YUMMY)
this 6’4 Lithuanian Lady cut the line, well I was the only one in line, and order a Reuben. This Hippie looking Cat she called Jerry Rubin came out of the freezer and left with her!
I then saw this lady reading the Lithuanian news paper. Something was up as there were 2 big dudes with dark sun glasses and ear pieces eyeing me!
Come to find out the lady was Dalia Grybauskaite President of Lithuania having some Lithuanian cookies and drinking groseunie which is like a Lithuanian Red Bull. Go figure all this going on in
Union Pier.
They have the NYT and the
New Buffalo gazette. The New Buffalo Gazette
was less depressing so I read it.
I've been going there for years, every time we go to the beach we stop there, you can buy very good sandwiches before you hit the lake⛱️
My favorite is Dadu ice-cream:))))
Love the store:)
Friendly people corner store feel from yesteryear very stocked with hard to find items good quality produce an awesome homemade breakfast sandwiches
Good spot for a quick grocery run. Very reasonable prices (payed ~$6 for milk + eggs). Also have breakfast options available.
Italian beef is really good. Needs to work on customer service. The cashier was rude. Would eat here again if we return to the area.
I stopped in for a quick bite and found one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life! Please recommend the Classic Piaggia to your friends and family if you are trying to earn their love and respect.
