Dairy Queen Grill & Chill

Staff was bumbling and unorganized. Handed me a bag of food that belonged to the car behind me, I gave the cashier exact change and he tried to hand me back a handful of coins. When I told him that I gave him the exact amount of my total, he looked confused then shrugged and closed the window. When I finally got my food by a third employee at the window, it was all there. Then they walked away, I was still waiting for 4 blizzards. After about 10 minutes I looked through the window and there were 4 employees huddled at the area where they make the blizzards talking. A woman walked over with 2 is the 4 blizzards then asked if I would like a drink carrier. I said yes and then she added the blizzards to it and handed it to me then closed the window. We sat for another 10 minutes before they gave us the other 2 blizzards. Then I said something about the weird extra bag of food. She looked confused just as a employee walked up and told her that it was for the car behind us. She asked for the bag back and then sat it down inside just as another employee came up with a 5th blizzard and tried to give it to me. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I told them it wasn't mine and then I finally drove off. 25 minutes is how long I was at the drive thru window, and that's after already 20 minutes in line. Will never go back to that location again. 😵 Also, when did the health department declare that hair nets were no longer needed on kitchens???

The kids working at the Dairy Queen on Addison are a prime example of why it’s important to stay in school and maybe stop playing video games. The kid working the drive through could not understand sentences and respond with an intelligent answer. I asked him 3 times if the Reese’s on the menu were Reese’s peanut butter cups or pieces and he told me 3 times they were buttercups then I confirmed, “so they aren’t Reese’s pieces correct?” He responded: “they are Reese’s pieces.” 🙄 after a confusing ordering process with other hiccups, I pulled up and handed him a gift card that was just given to us 5 minutes earlier and I told him I wasn’t sure how much was on there but I would pay the difference from whatever was on the card. He told me there was $4.55 on the card, I gave him permission to use it, then he swiped it and told me it was declined because there weren’t any funds on the card. After going back and forth, I asked him how that was possible since he JUST told me there was $4.55 on the card. I asked him, “so did you already use the funds on it?” He responded: “yes”. Uhhhhh, ok…moving on. They started bringing out our blizzards, 1st and 2nd blizzards were correct. 3rd blizzard was supposed to be a small instead of a mini so they start making the correct size. 4th blizzard was supposed to be a chocolate covered strawberry, they brought chocolate covered cherry. I kindly ask them to please make the chocolate covered strawberry and I pulled off to the side to let the long line of cars move up. My 12 year old sat and giggled after every single confusing situation one right after another. Not sure I’ll visit that Dairy Queen again.

First the staff, great and friendly and overall enjoyable. Second, the food.. haven't had an issue yet, it's all been as expected or better. Third, this is why I gave 3 stars... For a fast food joint, expect a bit of a wait during usual times, and a rather long wait during peak times. Despite the staff being so enjoyable, they seem to lack a management structure or designated roles. Need to get a well organized leader in there to "crack the whip" and establish a cohesive team.

Every time I make myself known to dairy queen I am soaked in the restaurant's milky presence. In the depths of night the name creeps into my mind and that's all it takes. Suddenly, it's there with me, in my room. I'm unable to fight it's pull like the dense gravity of a dying star. Not sure why they don't give out yellow fever vaccines in the parking lot yet so uhhh had to subtract a star for that.

This location has been bad for a very long time. I've been in here a few times every few months and it's the same story. They can't keep their staff for very long so they never know what to do so I can't blame the staff since they're mostly young and inexperienced. I won't be back for a while but my tip for the owners is to pay a proper wage maybe then you'll keep some staff around for longer than a few weeks or months. Most of the staff, including the new staff, have been very friendly and they try hard so I have no issue with any of the staff. I just think that the experience would improve over time if the staff lasted longer than they currently do. Today was no different. Very long waiting times and the ordering process wasn't very smooth. I think the owner should pay attention to these things. When I was eating I asked an employee what they get paid and incredibly I found that they get paid minimum wage. At this rate I would not be surprised if this place shut down because of the quality going down over time.
