Stopped by since we were visiting the area for a family reunion and saw this French restaurant online. Food was nostalgia of French cuisine and enjoyed every bite. The escargot was on point and very flavorful. I had the lamb shank while my wife had the pork. Both were fall off the bone fantastic. Had the Creme Brule for dessert and it was very good. Ended up coming back the next night and tried the shrimp linguine and also didn't disappoint. Small menu BUT highly effective since they can concentrate on the flavor and texture. Highly recommend trying this place out. You will not be disappointed! Safe to say we'll be stopping by whenever we are in Ashville!

The food here is fantastic!! Happened to stumble upon this place looking for dinner on our route and could not be happier with the result. We had French onion soup, the escargots, lamb shank, the pork shank and the crème brûlée- everything was wonderful. Both meats were fall of the bone tender and the soup had a perfect rich broth. Highly recommend you eat here if nearby (or take a detour if you aren’t!)

This place is amazing. The atmosphere is spot on. It makes me feel like I was in France at a local restaurant. The staff was very friendly. I have a service dog, and the manager was telling me that they are dog friendly and love dogs. The wine selection is pretty good. The list was not overbearingly long. It made picking the perfect bottle of wine easy. The food was delicious. I had a light pasta dish, and she had the fish. We split a chocolate mousse dessert that hit the spot and wrapped up a wonderful evening at an awesome French style restaurant. Will highly recommend. And will definitely be back.

We absolutely loved this place! A big group of us ran the Ache Around the Lake race around Lake Lanier early Saturday morning and after we all meet for breakfast here. They accommodated our big group amazingly. The women waiting on us were very kind and attentive to our needs. The food and drinks were delicious and just what we needed after our race. We were also lucky enough to have the perfect view of the bike race going through town. We loved this place and will plan to come back again when we’re in the area!

Let's just start at the most important part - DESSERT!!!!! Wow wow wow, that Napoleon was so scrumptious, delicious and incredible. It's worth dining here just for the dessert, but if you're like me the dessert is just the icing on the cake. The food here is incredible, I'm blown away by their large selection of specials, which would make you wonder why even bother with a printed menu, but if you're like my wife on the quest of finding the best burger in the whole area, well hop over to the menu and order yourself one because it's phenomenal. And that french onion soup is out of this world, not to mention the warm french 🥖 baguette they bring to your table. Lesson to learn: COME HUNGRY!!!! For me it was the first and last meal of my day, and boy was it amazing. The restaurant itself is so charming, you literally feel like you stepped into a little cafe in Europe. And the staff who was a husband and wife team were so sweet and cordial, even though they were certainly overwhelmed with a very full house. If you are a wine drinker, there is a great selection of wines to choose from. I prefer to spend my calories on the solid foods 🤣. Cafe La Gauoe is amazing, so happy to see life back to normal, people outside and visiting local establishments, and seeing people's smiling faces. If you are in a rush, don't come here, but if you want an incredible fun dining experience this is the place to come!
