It's the people that make this place worth the trip. I only had time for one pint, but the locals made me feel like I was home and ready to play. Very fun atmosphere!

We had a ball at McGourty's! On a long weekend anniversary trip, we visited Tryon, NC (lovely town; we will be back). We dropped in to the pub a little early and had several pints of draft Guinness, delicious chicken nachos, and a great club sandwich with handcut fries. The Guiness temperature, freshness, pour, and even glasses were perfect! The nachos were fresh and crispy, and the toppings were perfectly balanced (we added pickled jalepenos to our order--perfect). The club was awesome too; I was even able to have it on rye. The deli meats and cheese tasted like Boar's Head, and the handcut fries were excellent. McGourty's is an unpretentious American take on an Irish Pub. Great place!

We didn't know that it was a private club. But the manager was warm and welcoming. He did not pressure us into joining. He just said if we come back he would tell us more. The food and service was great. I only wished my fries and okra was a little less greasy. Also if you have a hard time with stairs, I would not recommend. Otherwise I really enjoyed it.

Had some great steaks and drinks! Service is slow a bit beyond "casual", but we're thinking about joining. Wonderful atmosphere and activities.

Great pub atmosphere. Drinks reasonable and just right. All food items I've tried were great. Owner/bartender, Chris Balliew, never misses a beat and is a great host.

Love our hometown Pub! We are there every Thursday for Team Trivia, and we love the live music choices, and karaoke on the weekends. Staff is warm and welcoming, and the food is always quite tasty. I see some less than favorable reviews on here, and I urge anyone who may have had a bad experience, to give McGourty's a second chance. Most any establishment can have "off" nights on occasion, and anyplace can get "in the weeds"; but that is in no way the norm. The owners and staff go out of their way to make their customers feel comfortable, and if made aware, will absolutely do their best to resolve any issues, or accommodate any needs. This place has heart, and is a simply splendid place to enjoy the company of family and friends.

Great food and drinks. Wonderful service as well. Lots of entertainment, mostly everyday. The staff is great. Chris the bartender and part owner is awesome bartender. He's also write friendly. This is a members only pub. Fortunately memberships are only $20.00 per person the first year, which includes your initiation fee. Annual renewals are only $10.00 per person annually. The atmosphere is that of your local friendly Irish Pub.

We were so happy to stumble across this gem of a pub yesterday in Tryon, NC, while out for a Sunday drive, exploring the countryside and little towns around Greer, SC on a beautiful afternoon. Genuinely warm, friendly atmosphere and staff. Ice cold beer and we were delighted to dip the yummy fries we ordered into their OH SO TOTALLY DELISH "made-fresh-every-day" Guinness gravy. (Not on the menu. Ask for it.) We can't wait to come back for a proper dinner and try the salmon, grilled chicken, or what promises to be the perfect hamburger, with a bazillion toppings to choose from. We noticed their calendar listed live entertainment most evenings of the week including open mic, trivia and various local bands and performers. We we're paticularly happy to know that we could satisfy our cravings for traditional pub fare, as well as stick to a healthier plan with several options to choose from including grilled chicken, salmon, as well as asparagus and broccoli as side item choices. 😄
