We had such a great dinner here tonight! The service was WONDERFUL. They were out of the first beer I was interested in, so I was allowed to sample a different one on tap that our waitress recommended (and it was very, very good).
We tried the edamammus, and I had the short rib bowl. My partner had sushi. He says it was the best sushi he's had in town, and it's the most fun I've had eating dinner in awhile. Such a great experience.
I do not know the owners, or anybody that works here. This is a completely legitimate review. That being said...
I've been to pretty much every sushi place in Tallahassee. This is THE absolute best sushi in Tallahassee. Very reasonably priced. Excellent presentation. Insane complex flavors. Will definitely be back whenever I visit Tallahassee. If I can get a table then... I foresee this place being packed to the gills as soon as word gets out. Don't sleep on this place. Get in while you can.
We went for lunch on a Saturday. The place was surprisingly quiet. Really nice atmosphere. We ordered the Godzilla roll and the garnet and gold roll. Both were exceptional. The garnet and gold had such a nice crisp and fresh flavor. We have found our "go to" sushi joint.
If you're in Tallahassee and love Sushi the way we do, Izzy Pub & Sushi is a must. Try the "Trust Me" roll! You won't be disappointed! The food and service are both amazing!@
Izzy was so delicious! I highly recommend the Okonomiyaki Pub Fries! The sushi was great quality and tasted fresh. The rice bowls were huge and great for the price! The meat was juicy and seasoned well. The environment is cute - the restaurant is a decent size, more on the smaller side, but there is nice seating inside and outside. I definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice sushi restaurant to try out!
Excellent Tuna Choices. Fresh and good for a Saturday I normally won't do sashimi on the weekends due to logistical areas. But the food was good. But paying 2 bucks for a can coke not good. Get some bottles of coke from Mexico if your charging 2 bucks for a flat can drink.
Amazing place. Visit here few times a year when we come down from Oklahoma . Trust me rolls are always a hit.
After finding nothing to buy at Bed, Bath & Beyond(!), spouse and I stopped by Izzy Pub & Sushi Bar on Thomasville Rd. We always seem to neglect the Midtown area, so making amends here!
Sat outside with looming dark clouds, greeted quickly by our server and soon thereafter placed our order.
Wife had the "Garnet & Gold" specialty roll while I ordered the Gyoza (dumplings), and the Pork Belly Skewers. Izzy also features a very comprehensive draft/bottled beer selection and Sake menu, so we each had a glass of draft beer.
The sushi roll was delicious, made to order. Rice was quite fluffy, in contrast to the typical pressed style found at other places. Mango sauce had nice flavor with a subtle kick.
My two selections came out 10 minutes apart (perfect timing), and both dishes were quite good (albeit the dumplings were somewhat cool; perhaps sat a bit too long?). The pork bellies were terrific; hot, with a nice crust on the edges, and married well with the bourbon-teriyaki glaze. Had to slap my wife's hand away from the last one...(stole a sushi roll; don't tell...).
We thoroughly enjoyed this lunch and plan to return for the Omekase on a Sunday.
Total minus tip was $56.
Izzy sushi is fire; I got the Godzilla roll. The atmosphere was comfy.
LOVED the omakase experience that they do on Sunday nights. So fresh and unique. Make sure to reserve early, it's absolutely worth it. Chef Alex and our server were very personable and kind. Tons of local beers and sake options were available. I highly recommend this experience, you won't regret it.
We got a tip from someone local, and it paid off big! Amazing sushi! Freshness, texture, and flavor were all on point. The pork belly was cooked to absolute perfection! The service was also wonderful. Beer and Sake selection were also great. We will be back!
The sushi rolls and rice bowls were all very tasty. I would have given five stars except for my 3 sushi rolls coming to the table 40 minutes after the rice bowls. The gentleman behind the bar noticed how long it was taking and was helpful in getting the sushi rolls out promptly.
