Martha's Leelanau Table

The food was excellent. We waited 15 minutes before our waiter came to the table, when he did it was like he didn’t want to be there. We had a 8:15 reservation so maybe it’d been a long day. There was a table of 4 in the dining room that were obnoxiously loud…we could barely hear the conversation at our table. Unfortunately this killed the atmosphere for me.

The atmosphere on the outdoor patio with soothing live music set the tone early for Martha’s Leelanau Table. Raphael, our Waiter, made excellent suggestions and knew the menu and specials like the back of his hand. Despite being short staffed, the service exceeded every expectation. You can often tell all you need to know by the bread an establishment serves. A perfectly crunchy and chewy crust with a fresh soft middle got the evening going. A complimentary bowl of the red bean and pork chili was robust and flavorful with large chunks of tender pork. However, the braised short rib my wife ordered and the Surf and Turf I chose were some of the best meals we have ever enjoyed. The New York Strip was prepared to a perfect medium as requested, and the potatoes au gratin were rich and tasteful. I can’t recommend this place enough. A true gem in Sutton’s Bay.

The experience at Martha’s was truly a treat! I stumbled across an Open sign on a Sunday evening (on Mother’s Day!) without a reservation and was promptly offered the first available table by a cozy fire pit outside by the wonderful hostess. The live music was lovely, the service was just, impeccable! And the food… I can’t wait to return to try everything on the menu. Thank you so much for making my long road trip feel so warm and inviting. Truly a surprise treat.
