Driving down I-5 and I'm hungry! Then I remember seeing on Facebook and new Bbq joint open in Stockton. Fat something or rather, I hit the Waze for pitstop and type in Fat and boom! Fat City Brew & Bbq, lead on Waze! 10mins off of I-5 I land in a quintessential downtown of Stockton. Wait what are all these kool grills, did I land at a grill store? Nope there tables and bar, oh a that's a lot of taps. There is a seat at the bar. I plop down and gaze at so many taps... Can't work lunch. I grab a menu and then the smell of wood smoke gently breeze by ”mouth is leaking”! The menu is simple and easy to read. Ok burger no, sandwiches no, three meat combo. Yes, please! Tri-tip, pulled pork, spare ribs. Oh, I need sides too, onion rings and mac and cheese. Check out the pic of these items served. Oh, my tri-tip is served medium done, finial someone knows this is steak, not a roast and is serving it correct. The BBQ angels in Santa Maria are singing! Ribs are very similar to tradition KC Bbq sweet and a hint of woodsmoke. Ok, I love dry rub Memphis pulled pork. I hate sauce drowning meat. An this was on point. The side were good and hit the spot. It definitely will be a place I visit every time I travel up and down the I-5. Oh an I bought some Bbq gear for my weekend grillffest!
BBQ pulled pork sandwich on a Genova roll with onion rings was awesome. My son went today and I had the bbq rib sandwich. Outstanding! My son tried three different sliders and his favorite was the tri tip. He also enjoyed a bacon cheeseburger.
The Devils Apricot sauce was sweet but packed the heat! Plenty of beer. Definitely will enjoy this spot during football season. Bravo on a fine dining experience.
I happened to be in Stockton at lunch time so I looked for a place to eat. Came across Fat City Brew & BBQ. So happy that's what we chose. Got the two meat plate...brisket and pulled pork with onion rings and a side salad. So Good!!! The meats were juicy!! Some of the best BBQ meats I've had. The onion rings were good. I wish the salad had been made with romaine lettuce but it was mixed greens. The customer service was outstanding!! I would definitely return if in Stockton again.
Saw the bathroom sign on my way out...loved it. Haha
The staff is always very friendly & helpful. I've had the smoked fried chicken sandwich as well as the brisket sandwich. Both were very good, I look forward to trying more on my next visit.
100percent my daytime hangout, personally. Feels like I'm coming home when I sit down to have a beer. Great food great staff. Cheers to the fact that there's a business owner here that still wants to rep "Fat City.”
We loved the ribs, but we were surprised to find a meat tax of $9. We didn't figure it out until we ate them. We wondered why our bill seemed high.
Meat was so tender it just slid off the ribs. Sauce selection was very good. Got the junk fries with tri tip on top and my kids loved that.
Fast service and very tasty smoked pulled pork. They make their own bbq sauces and I liked most of them. Pulled pork didn't need sauce on it. The hot link was delicious too.
