We wrapped up 2017 with a very relaxing stay in St. Michaels, Maryland. We were there to dog and house sit, more about that soon, but we also made sure to take full advantage of the local food scene. St. Michaels is a tiny town, but it packs a big culinary punch in the handful of restaurants lining its charming downtown. Ava’s Pizzeria is perhaps one of the most popular eateries in the area. Its cozy interior, dog-friendly winterized back patio and delicious cuisine made it a must-visit during our stay. And visit we did, four times over the course of ten days!
The fried oysters in wasabi panko breadcrumbs was awesome we had the pizza special and it was also great. The service is fast and friendly
Loved this place. We sat in the back patio right next to the waterfall built from beer taps. Our server Peter was terrific. We ordered the Panko covered oysters which were amazing and then the Chefs Pizza. The service was great and the food wonderful. We'll be back.
Don't let the name fool you!. Recently had a lunch there...pizzeria? ....well yes they do have that--but i can't speak for the pizza ..as i have not tried it...i did have a bowl of their pasta soup...suggested by the bar keep..a nice hearty soup on a some what cold day and the wine very nice..always good when the bartender looks out for you..noticed by soup looked lonely and brought me warm bread to go with it...thks it hit the spot..if your in town and need a nice spot to relax..stop in and enjoy their company..oh before i forget lunch with the wine under $ 10.00 ....will always return....
Consistent fresh toppings, good quality wood fired pizza. If you want it crispy, I suggest requesting it extra crispy crust.
Good Food. I visited Ava's Pizzeria on a recent trip to St. Michaels. I was very pleased with the food. We got the pizza of the day, which was a gyro pizza. Very tasty. The only downside was the service. Our waiter, Lawrence, took our drink order, eventually returned for our food order, and then disappeared for most of our visit. He would come in, clean a table, help someone else, and then leave the room. It took us a very long time to get our check, upwards of twenty minutes from the time we finished our meal. That was the only downside to the visit. The food is very good and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. I will be going back on my next visit to St. Michaels, as long as I can get a different server.
Best up and coming restaurant in St. Michaels. Fantastic brick oven pizza and great apps. Would recommend to anyone!
I'm a finicky vegetarian and it's hard for me to eat out in St. Micheals but Ava's is always a good choice for me. At the very least I can get a really good cheese pizza with a fantastic crust. The $9 cocktail the waiter sold me (without mentioning that it was a $9 drink) didn't thrill me though.
Ava's is great!. Ava's is not just a place to eat, it is an atmosphere! From the minute you hit the door the staff treats you like family! Everyone smiles, and everyone listens! The only way you could possible get a bad meal in the place is to bring your dinner with you from some place else! I have never heard anyone complain about anything at Ava's and the prices are reasonable as well. This is perhaps one of the town's best places to eat and to socialize!
The food was good. The specialty pizzas were a little expensive, but tasty. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Would recomend to a friend.
We loved avas so much the first night we came back the next day. Our first night we had the pleasure of hanging out with Lacey! She was an absolute joy and fantastic at her craft. We ended up meeting Kim that night as well! Both made our first night in St Michaels amazing. Kim is such a delight to hang out with. Our food was amazing and we cannot wait to return!

The Detroit pizza is no joke; however, they have a limited number they can make each day, so get there early.
Aw man, this place is great! The parm fries, Detroit style pizza and Aperol spritz were all phenomenal. The staff were friendly we really enjoyed being in their company. 10/10.
Busy Memorial Day lunch was filling. Our waitress was very kind and the food came out timely. There were Vegan Options which was great. The fired pizza was good. We ordered the veggie pie and it was tasty but odd that it had tomato slices instead of cherry tomatoes or something. The quinoa Bowl was good but could have used a bit more "sauce/dressing". Beer was cold and the outdoor seating was nice- much better than indoor seating. Careful - only 2 single bathrooms available.
Cool old place tight in St Michaels. Two of us shared the 18 inch Meatball pizza (add the red sauce!) and it was amazing and enough for two.
Brick oven inside with a cool little bar as well.
All around a great experience, very inviting, and a warm atmosphere. Great pizza too, definitley the best place I've gone to for pizza. Atop that, the staff are super nice. Affordable too, and you get great value for your money.
Snooping around I also see that the restaurant is active on google maps which is a plus.

Great restaurant! Wonderful location. The Detroit Deep Dish pizza was delicious and the Tomato Bisque was stellar.
My husband and I ate here twice when we were in town. The meatball appetizer is a must try and they had really good seasonal (holiday) cocktails! My husband had pizza and said it was good. I had a garlicy shrimp and green beans dish (I forget the name), and that was good as well. The couple next to us the first night got the chicken parm and we both commented on how good it looked! I'll be trying that next time for sure.
