My husband and I spent my birthday here mining for opal. It was amazing!! There are excellent specimens available throughout the mini mine and they dump loads of rubble a few times throughout the summer. We sat on the pile with a college class and several families and had plenty of room to dig and find new spots to explore. The staff was so very lovely!! They were so helpful and really made us feel welcome. The cafe is quaint and you feel as though you've stepped back in time, as though you're a miner coming in for some hot grub after a long days work. The prices were excellent for everything, including the fossils and stones in the gift shop. Definitely worth the drive and hard work. Shown is only one rock from our collection we acquired during our trip.

Awesome place. They have a great selection of jewelry and rock/mineral specimens. They are closed for digging during the 2020 year, but offer bags of rough rock to take home and dig through for $25 and $50. They also offer more expensive bags, $100 & $200+ for DIY.
