I am reluctant to share how great the food and service was. I feel we have found a hidden gem!! Had plans on going to Maria's Saturday night however, the wait was too long when we got there. Seen Sofia steak house while out biking earlier in the day. We decided to give it a try. Wow! what a great decision we made!! The food was excellent! The stuffed mushrooms were made to perfection. I got the chicken dish and my husband got the steak. The portions were generous and the food was delicious! Apparently the owner hand selects each and every steak that he orders, picking out only the ones with the perfect freshness and marbling. He definitely knows what he's doing!! The service was excellent too!!! The restaurant ambiance is very nice and private with a really cool history behind it! Be sure to ask your server about that!! A definite "must do" when you visit South Haven!!
It was definitely more "upscale" than I expected but the service was great, or waitress Serene was a delight and the Delmonico was the most tender, perfectly cooked steak I've had anywhere in Michigan as of yet.
The burger was melt in your mouth amazing, with the most flavorful bacon and cheddar toppings.
This place was off the chain our waiter was awesome the food was awesome definitely will go back again soon great staff
Pork chop was amazing, filet was close to that, and good bottle of wine. Happy you've reopened!
Fantastic dinner and our server was very courteous.
Food was good and waitress was excellent.
We had filets and the truffle Mac and cheese, I must confess having truffle oil I didn't taste any in the Mac and cheese but with all the cheeses it was good. The crab mushrooms had little crab in them but again flavor was good.
The steaks were cooked to order not overdone.
Waitress was down to earth and very nice, being her second night if she hadn't said anything we wouldn't have known. Pace of meal was food and she refilled waters and teas often.
Atmosphere is more upscale and prices match.
I would recommend that the restaurant puts the menu posted outside so potential customers know prices ahead of time to avoid embarrassment. We saw several couples and families leave after being seated and seeing the menu.
We love coming to Sophie’s for date night. It never disappoints. Their Manhattan’s are great. We enjoy the stuffed mushrooms, wedge, filets and lava cake. The service is always friendly and Christine always remembers us and our order. She is the best.
The steaks here are cooked to perfection. Only 4 stars due to having to wait for between 10-15 minutes for our server to come to the table so we could order our drinks. Once we got started the service was excellent. Again the Steaks are perfect.

We moved to South Haven over a year and a half ago and I've been wanting to try Sophie's but was hesitant with focusing on some of the negative reviews more then the positive. We finally went in for our anniversary to check it off the list to try and were pleasantly surprised! All the negative statements in the other reviews did not pertain to us at all. I gave it 4 stars since I'm a huge fish fan and the options were limiting as well as the side vegetables, but I did the Shrimp Scampi appetizer and add on Lobster Tail as my main entree and the stuffed mushrooms as my appetizer and loved it! Just enough and very tasty! My husband ordered the filet mignon and for someone who is not impressed with food at most restaurants actually loved his meal! Service was great! Travis was an awesome waiter and made the experience all the more special and we were treated to a blueberry cobbler ala mode that was perfect in size for two and delicious! Now we know that Sophie's is a place we can go to when friends and family come to visit and recommend to those who come into town and want a small quiet restaurant to try! I guess every restaurant has an item on the menu that wasn't to their liking, or may not have a good service night, but we had a very nice relaxing evening, good wine and good food and great service! Try it out! Hopefully your experience is as good as ours was!
Sophie's is our favorite restaurant in South Haven. The food is consistently delicious, they really know how to prepare steak to order, the Staff is engaging and competent, and the ambiance relaxing. We come here to celebrate and to heal after a hard week.
