King Tut 2 (somerville)

New favourite place!! The owner is very charismatic and friendly. One of the best service experiences I've ever had. The food is good. The desserts are even better. Many are homemade by the owner's wife. He's particularly proud of the baklava. I had the King Tut lamb shank and apricot and almond tart. The environment is quite dark, akin to Cheesecake Factory (when we went at night). The decor is very ancient Egyptian with hieroglyphs across the walls, from portraits of pharaohs to the eye of Horus.

I don’t get it. What were all these reviews about. Today April 12 I had such an amazing experience. They were very short staffed but still had amazing service. We came in pretty late and the owner decided to serve us as our waiter and helped the chef cook. He was so open and we were constantly interacting with not only him but his staff even. You should check out the way the owner and most of the employees opens a drink with the back of a fork!!! We ordered hummus shrimp and chops and Mmmmmmmm it was super delicious. In the end when I asked to pack my hummus in return, for free, they gave us free hummus and bread. And they had a desert I forgot the name. But ask them for a desert in a crembule bowl they will probably know it!!! They gave not only the hummus and bread but also that desert for free. And let me say it was very delicious. Best visit/First time visit ever!!!! Would recommend a ton also if applying for a job you should apply they are pretty short staffed. Thanks King Tut and the owner. One more thing about the owner. When we walked in, instead of giving us a menu he spent 5-10 minutes talking about specials like meat and he gave lots of insight about each dish. It’s like he’s a educated chef like Gordon Ramsey!! Thanks so much!!

Fantastic ambience, friendly service and good food. Ordered a house salad and the chicken kebab. Salad was fresh with a light dressing that was very delightful. The chicken kebab was mix of experiences, the seasoning on the meat had a very heavy lemon flavor, the sauce on the rice was very good but the veggies were bland. I was offered a lemonade with mint that was a very nice and refreshing treat. Maybe not what you might expect but definitely a place worth trying.

If I could give this place a 6 star rating, I would. The chef was very friendly and you could feel his passion for his cooking in his words. He took the time to explain the items on the menu and the food was delicious. The vibe and ambiance of the place was wonderful as well. The chef even came and sang happy birthday for my friend. Overall, I would highly highly recommend.
