My wife and I aren't vegan but through the years we'd been to True Bistro a few times for dinner with our vegan son. We always enjoy this place because of its ambience, and the food that's surprisingly good for the palate of non-vegan like us. We also like the civilized crowd that this place attracts... Quiet and non rowdy diners.
Our most recent visit was about two weeks ago for our son's birthday. I was surprised how their menu has changed... For the better! The selections are streamlined and apparently seasonal. I like how presentation is more focused on a single ingredient complimented by few additional enhancers. Simply put each selection is elegantly presented without being overpowered by the garnishing. Each is subtly and pleasantly spiced without having the feel that I'm consuming an specific ethnic food from somewhere.
I highly recommend this place to anyone, vegan or not... And I love their ginger flavored dark rum concoction for cocktail.
Went to True Bistro with friends for brunch yesterday. We had the sietan burger, salad, tofu scramble, folded crepe, sweet potato panini, biscuit and gravy, cinnamon bun and banana bread. All of which were amazing and filling. I would definitely recommend it for brunch and would go back for dinner. Our server Tina was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Can't wait to go back.
Really good plant-based fine dining restaurant! We went here for my birthday and we weren't disappointment. All the items are completely plant-based so you don't have to ask questions to see if any dishes have diary in it.
The menu was limited but the variety within the dishes made up for it. The vegan desserts were delicious especially the cheesecake with the chai spices. It was just the right amount of sweet with a spicy kick at the end.
Food is wonderful, great flavors. Perfect for a special occasion. Atmosphere is a little stuffy for me personally. Otherwise it's nice to have a high end vegan restaurant.
Fantastic Oyster Mushrooms was nice and crunchy with a not too spicy chilli sauce. Saffron Pappardelle was the stand out dish! Chocolate to Die was fantastic for dessert.
Truly a restaurant that shows that any food can be just as delicious with a vegan spin. Despite being an omni, if I didn't know it was vegan, their dishes such as the pumpkin cheesecake, salad with smoked cashew cheese, and more would all fool me. Cocktails are excellent and have a great kick too!
Very delicious vegan food! The wait staff were very nice and helpful when asking about dishes. The peach and lemongrass pie we could've done without (not a fan of the flavor combinations) but everything else was amazing! Wish we had ordered a extra plate to take home, even though it was expensive. Loved their vegan cheese. Food photos don't do the meal justice!
Their outside dining isn't the best set up, so recommend going before it's dark out or eating inside, which is nicely set up.
I've been looking for good vegan places, so I was excited to go to this place!
My biggest gripe is the hours. They have the strangest hours! Check their website to see if they're open.
I got the Spanish omelet for brunch. It was my first time having Chao cheese, and it was surprisingly tasty! I wasn't the biggest fan of the omelet itself, though. It felt a bit dry. The side salad had a bit too much oil as well. I did love their toast and butter. Yum!
Quite location with lot of space. Service was quick. Everything is vegan and tasted delicious. Recommend the Spanish omelette.
My husband and I have a deep history with this restaurant we actually had our first date at True Bistro in 2013. Since that first date, True Bistro has been such a special place to us. It was often the place where we celebrated Birthdays, anniversaries and brought our out-of-town guest to show off high end vegan cuisine. Of course, when it came to planning our rehearsal dinner, we really were hoping that True Bistro would be willing to host such a big party. We were nervous to ask because the pandemic has put strain on a lot of small businesses (with staffing and supply shortages), but they welcomed us with open arms. We had the most gorgeous 3 course meal and such phenomenal desserts that our rehearsal dinner guests were talking about the food for days! Keep up the wonderful work and thank you for hosting so many of our memories.
