Hummingbird Restaurant

The place is kind of hidden a little bit, but there are parking structures around it that makes it convenient. We were there around 6:30pm and Harold - the owner/chef, was about to close, but welcomed us in. He was very accommodating, funny, and made us feel very special. We had chilli to start off which was surprisingly good, then Curry Goat for our 2nd dish. It had a lot of spice in it which made the goat not too gamey. Our third dish was Gumbo and I can't stress this enough but IT WAS SOOO GOOD. We finished off with his Jerk Chicken and it was the best we have ever tasted. All this, while Harold talking with us and being very polite. He gave us 2 drinks made of coconut, almond milk, banana and cinnamon, AND gave us a sweet potato pie. Everything tasted so amazing. It was the highlight of our trip. Harold is amazing. We are definitely going back when we visit Solvang

This is definitely a lovely restaurant with cozy setting and amazing food. The service is exceptional as well. My friend had food allergies to one of the ingredients in the salad, which was totally not their issue, but not only did they changed the dish, but they also sincerely offered to help us. It was the most pleasant experience I've ever had in any restaurant and I highly recommend this place.

Seems like all the food stuff from comfortably small menu are prepared by one guy; he is really good at what he does. A salad started with our Jamaican Jerk Chicken was a simple arugula and yellow radish with strawberry vinegrette salad. Simple, crisp, a little earthy bitter, and no lame lettuce. Chicken and rice were really good too. You can serve yourself water from an infuser. This time it was cucumber and lemon grass water. Very refreshing and at no extra cost. Strongly recommend especially if you are trying to get away from the crowds on the main street and other packed eateries.
