Great food and service. Our group really liked the cocktails. This is one of the few "upscale" restaurants in Solvang and in terms of ingredients and presentation, they really delivered (see pics). The only problem is that when we came here for dinner, the food took a long time to get to us (about an hour). By the time we got our main entrees, the restaurant was 45 minutes from closing. Keep in mind we had a reservation for 7, which is a very normal time to eat and well before closing. The staff said not to worry and not to rush through our dinner, but we felt uncomfortable staying long after they closed. As a side note, happy hour had great deals, and the appetizers, which were really tasty, were brought out right away.

I had the best fries in my life here! Highly recommend the fries come with impossible burger! After having fries here, shake shack InNout do not have a place in my heart! The fries have crispy coat and very fluffy filling. Besides that, I also recommend their salad. You can tell it’s organic because it literally tastes sweet. That sweetness is so natural which differentiates their salad from artificially flavored ones!

Food was very good. Presentation was beautiful. Inside is very nice. Great wine selection. Great ambiance. Small-ish menu. I suggest you check it first to see if it’s what you want. We bother ordered steak. It was good, not great. But good. Neat place, semi upscale, elevated prices. Might come back for app and wine.

We came into Solvang planning to stay a couple of hours and decided to stay all day. This dinner was the highlight of our trip! My taste buds went into overdrive! Our host George was warm and attentive. Our server Jessica was so knowledgeable about every detail and made superb recommendations. From drinks to appetizers to dessert, everything was incredible! What an incredible anniversary!

Root 246 definitely earns its place as one of the best restaurant restaurants in California. The menu, although small, features seasonal delights like pumpkin soup (with a twist) as well as the classic steak and potatoes. The ingredients tasted fresh and the seasoning was on point. What surprised the most was the deliciousness of the fries that came with our impossible burger: perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I have been yearning for my next visit ever since just for those fries.
