La Cabana

Stopped in for some dinner on our way to Houston. Excellent roadside cantina and Tex-mex spot. Flavorful table salsa with a good texture. Plentiful and tasty chips to go with it. Tried the Chile con Queso, which was excellent. Loved having the jalapeños on the side to add more heat when you want it. I had the Cancun plate to try out a variety. Loved the taco meat. Good guacamole. The refried beans were chunkier than I like but the flavor was very good. Cheese Enchiladas were solid with a good meat sauce. My wife had the Chicken Cabana Taco, which ended up being a single large soft taco that used a unique fried bread like I see on tortas. It was a little heavy but very flavorful. The filling though was outstanding. Fajita chicken and veggies in a excellent cheese sauce. It felt like a signature dish and tasted like the chef really put some work into it. Recommended. Friendly and attentive staff all around really topped off the visit. Definitely check it out if you're in the area.

Haven't been to this place in forever and the one time I go back took a friend with me as well as a few other family members and it wasn't good at all. Had too keep asking for things from the men and barely could get anything from em but, you ask the lady and she was fast too get you your items. We sat on the patio area but, was told if you eat inside you get speedier service.
