One of the classic University of Washington bars, right in the heart of the Ave. The crowd skews more towards visitors and alumni vs students, but you'll see a range of folks. Great beer brewed on premises, beautiful wood-paneled bar with a brass foot rail, old school wooden tables and chairs, and decorated for the holidays. Large fries $10, pints $7. Old Wooly barley wine on tap for December 2023, 22 oz bottles of it for $15 make great gifts! The Atlas Amber, Coal Creek Porter, and the Old Wooly are all beers they've been brewing since at least the 80s or 90s, so try those classics of American microbrewing.

I had such a fun time at this amazing brewery watching the Seahawks game with a friend and the owner! The beer was awesome-I had the Sour Smash and it was easily one of the best sour beers I’ve ever had. I also enjoyed the cheeseburger, salad, and fries. Wonderful food, service, and vibe. The owner is incredibly kind and intentional about creating a warm and friendly Seattle community brewery. I will definitely be coming back!

It's the best hamburger meat I've had in a long time! Bar food is not known to be 5 stars; however, they made an excellent cheeseburger. A 5 star guality beef, locally produced, and fresh toppings. Also, one of my favorite drinks was here, Underberg. It's an order at the bar and find a seat place.

I got a local IPA that is made in house and and I also got some of their fries. The fries were amazing! Crispy, fresh, tasty sauce. The beer was also excellent. Seems like a great place to me. I would definitely come back

Solid tasty unpretentious food. Good range of beers - especially if you are a hop head. Bartenders with a sense of humor. Interesting age range of customers for a bar in a student area. Fun place.

Great beers, atmosphere and staff. This has been a neighborhood mainstay for decades. So much history here in the local beer scene. Great ipas and also approachable non hoppy beers. They do a great job of knowing their crowd located in the heart of the U District. Very helpful staff always, and usually sports stuff on the tvs when that is in season.

Old school bar with good food. Beer selection wasn't our favorite, but they had lots of choices. Harvest Salad was very good

The food was delicious and service was awesome. The atmosphere was especially great. It was laid back, fun, and safe. We're visiting from out of town, and it was neat to see lots of different types of people come in as it got busier through the afternoon. There were people playing chess, people working, studying, and just hanging out. We were there with our toddler, and we never felt rushed or out of plane. Everyone looked like they felt comfortable and that they belonged.

Cool atmosphere, super busy. Beer was OK. Felt like it had little to no body and then would hit you with hops. The two stouts were decent though.
