Absolutely incredible experience! Like most people, I read reviews before going places and I saw someone talk about soggy fries and rude service, and we took a chance and decided quality fish was more important. I have to tell you, not only were the fries perfect and thick and gorgeous (as I show in my photos), but the two men who I assume own the restaurant were so kind and friendly! We chatted a bit with him when it died down and enjoyed our dinner watching the sunset. The fish was crisp on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside, really beautiful. We all loved the coleslaw too, it was flavorful and not wet like some coleslaws we’ve had. And oh my goodness, you need to get the chowder! I am from New England and I have to tell you, this is as close as you can get to the real thing around here. Wow!
Also, sustainable practices are really important to us and we were so grateful to see them using compostable bowls, spoons and serving dishes! Especially being so close to the water, and on Earth in general, we really appreciate your proactive decisions!

nice fish and chip place at alki beach. the staff was nice and gave us extra ketchup when we asked. the fish were fried just right and their fries were delicious too. I highly recommend this place.
Five stars for the chowder, it was really delicious. Fries were great too, however I think the fried halibut was only 4 stars.
This fish n chips shop serves great fish, they are located directly across from the beach. I ordered the combination meal with halibut, shrimp, oysters and fries. The fish and shellfish were cooked perfectly and had great flavor, the fries were a little overdone but had good flavor. Overall, I was satisfied with the food I did ordered, except for the side of coleslaw that wasn’t very good. There were out of a lot of things unavailable, like scallops and iced tea. I had to order what was available. Also, they could not take American Express cards. The food was good, as well as the location. If you are looking for fish and chips, this is a good spot.
You could tell there's a lot of love for the two dudes that run this place. In turn they put that love in the food because its always consistently good, especially the clam chowder (chock-full of clams btw). I tried the prawns last night and they were excellent too.
Tip: If you're around during the fall/winter months try to make a trip to Sunfish as Alki is pretty vacant during that time.
Hands down the best customer service ever! All of their food is made fresh to order, and their halibut is to die for! The restaurant is super clean (restrooms are spotless, too!) I will absolutely be returning as frequently as I can. Family friendly as well!
Best clam chowder ever. Large, tender pieces of clam in a rich, velvety, perfectly salted chowder. Fried halibut was good too and the variety of vinegars was delightful. The proprietor is friendly and appreciative. All around good visit!
I ordered takeout of 2 orders of Fish & Chips. Their fish is super fresh & exquisitely fried; not overdone. For my taste, the fries were a little too oily.
The owners are hardworking there & can be congenial when relaxed or have the time (not feel pressured). Place is kept clean. Their Cole slaw is also good.
Sunfish is a 'must-visit' icon of Alki Beach, and I'm embarrassed to say it took me six years to finally partake of this excellent eating establishment! That said, I was greatly rewarded by the owner himself - slightly ornery, but rightly so! Had the halibut & chips along with a splendidly fresh Greek salad! Excellent food, wonderful service, and perfect beach atmosphere!
Delicious food, gorgeous scenery, friendly faces...what's not to love? We always make sure to stop by when we come home to visit. Sadly, Seattle has changed so much, but one thing is for sure, Sunfish is still the same as it was growing up...wonderful.
