MOSCATO, SCARSDALE, NEW YORK : It was raining heavily in Scarsdale that Afternoon when my friend and I needed shelter m the sudden storm besides being voraciously Hungry and we chanced upon this off the corner opposite the Scarsdale railway station. Picked this meaning of the name off the menu…..
MOSCATO – The muscat family of grapes of the species Vitis vinifera. They range in color from white to almost black, but almost always have a pronounced sweet floral aroma. The breadth and number of varieties of moscato suggest that it is very old, perhaps the oldest domesticated grape variety. Muscat (Moscato) grows throughout Italy in various forms. In dessert form it is either passito or fortified, but it also appears in sparkling wines (spumante).
Done in wood there were hardly more than 5 customers that rainy day but I am sure all five of us must have felt the warmth of the place more than any place ever.
We ordered for starters/antipasti one FORMAGGI SALUMI: Dried cured meats , mixed cheese and dry mustard fruit at USD 14 per plate and a FEGATINI DI POLLO AL BALSAMICO : Chicken livers sauted with balsamic, onions, mushroom served with field greens in a parmegiano basket at USD 12 per plate.
Both the antipasti were delicious to the 2 hungry souls and were polished off instantly over a shot of Jack D’s bourbon.
Thereafter I chose the VITELLO MARTINI : Veal encrusted in Parmegiano cheese sauted with white wine and lemon over French beans at USD 18 per dish, whilst my friend opted for the BRANZINO ALLE MANDORLE : Medittereanean sea bass encrusted in almonds in a Lemon sauce served with French beans at USD 20 per dish.
Except for the sauce off the Branzino Alle Mandorle which I found excellent the sea bass tasted as excellent the fish is………… Whilst my Veal was well cooked, tasty and melted in my mouth with every fork full. The Martini and lemon sauce was out of the world with a subtle flavour of the menu.
Besides shelter from the storm, I recommend the warmth of the place when ever in upstate Scarsdale.
Excellant atmosphere and service.
Spectacular Italian cuisine and great atmosphere. Yum!
Check out the menu it is hilarious
Lovely restaurant! The staff was friendly and the food was delicious! The Branzino was amazing! It was encrusted in almonds and prepared in a lemon sauce which was perfectly portioned with French beans! The cheesecake was a classic end to a wonderful meal. Thanks to Alexandra (the bartender) and the staff for creating a exceptional dinner experience! I'll be back!
I love everything about this restaurant. Fabio was such a gracious host . The food was authentic and the venue was perfect . It felt like I was in Italy having dinner. This place deserve 5 star rating . I’m looking forward to go back again soon ❤️
Been at least 50 times, great italian, always constant, fair pricing, Salvatore, the manager is great!
The lunch special is a no brainer
Really excellent food from the bread to the deserts. We went for lunch when it was very quiet. The deserts are unbelievably good especially the cheesecake. Coffee is good. Excellent service. Sal was very attentive and helpful. Reasonable prices.
Update Oct 8 2022: So we did go back, and while the food was good, the place was jam packed (whatever happened to social distancing? now it’s squeeze out every square inch of floor space!) and service had really suffered. We had to ask multiple times for menus, cheese for pasta, … not a great experience, and I wouldn’t go back again.
Original review: Absolutely delicious, great food and super service. Salmon was notable, and the baked Alaska and chocolate mousse cake. Definitely going back!
All the apps were great there, clams casino, calamari was tender, salmon and beef carpaccio with salad, finger potatoes and octopus. The Veal Martini I had disappointed, tho. The veal bread was mushy, and it was supposed to have been crispy and the veal was chewy. I don't know about any of the other entrées how are they. The service was excellent. I must say. I've worked when i was much younger for a Italian butcher and used to get milk fed veal that like biting thru it like butter.
Small, excellent restaurant with upscale type dinner choices on the menue. Attentive experienced wait staff. Reserve a table..
Absolutely the best Italian food I've had in a long time!!
Love the food here and he service is always great for us. Their menu selection is out of this world and the service staff are amazing as well.
Nice ambiance, but I found it overpriced considering that the meals were average on taste.
