My favorite sandwiches in town. My favorite patio on the weekend. The sandwiches are great. The breakfast burritos are delicious. Always get MOJO potatoes on the side. The staff is excellent.
I remember when we went there in 1976 ( for years) and Lori was at the counter making sandwiches when it was a small town deli .. she was the best and the sandwiches were the e best. Small town local great stuff.
Tiny little shop full of life and great sandwiches! Had excellent customer service even for our larger group.

Great spot for sandwiches! Grab an order form in the store and check the boxes for what you want on your sandwich. My go-to is smoked turkey with pepper jack, the works, avocado on Dutch crunch!
My wife is Gluten Free so they made her a sandwich with Gluten Free bread, good to know!
Even the "half" size was huge and filled me up. The regular or bomber size I can only imagine for two people or if you want leftovers or if you are super hungry 🤣 Don't miss out on their house made potato chips, very excellent!!!
Store has been there forever, still as great as ever. Drinks and other food available too. Service is friendly and fast!
Average small neighborhood groceries and snacks, and some of the best sandwiches around. I'm from out of town, but anytime I'm in SLO, I make it a point to stop here for sandwiches. They're great!

Gus’s Review
There are so many good delis in Slo and Gus’s is one of our favorites. Because of this, we decided to pre-order sandwich platters for lunch prior to our wedding. We ordered the sandwiches over the phone a week before and came in the day before to pay (though this can be done day of). When our friends went to pick the sandwiches up a few minutes before the designated time they were rudely informed there were no catering orders for the day. Our friends showed the receipt. After looking around, they found our order that was written down. It took an additional hour and a half to complete our 3 sandwich platters. Because it was late, the bride and bridesmaids were not able to eat very much due to the wedding timeline. Since we were disappointed with our experience, we went in the next morning and informed the manager. The manager is so kind and hardworking. Unfortunately, the employees are either high school or college students who do not carry the same work ethic as her. She owned up to the mistake, apologized for what happened and refunded our order. Although we didn’t get our sandwiches on time, we would still consider Gus’s for future catering orders - though we would probably call the morning of to ensure the order would be fulfilled.
Great deli. Kinda pricey but totally worth it. There's a patio to eat on and have a beer if you choose. The have (I'm assuming) fresh banana, pumpkin, and choc chip bread by the slice. And everyone is pretty friendly and helpful. I recommend if you haven't tried them yet. 👍🏼
