My wife and I ordered some of the vegetarian dishes here and we were very happy with the preperation and variety. Service was also quick and professional. We'd recommend it and will come back!

The best Eritrean in SF, and one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I've been going to Assab for 14 years now, and this family-run restaurant has always kept their standards high.

Great staff. Complete menu. Perfectly spiced, enjoyed by the spicy-phobic as well. Veggie dishes very filling. Nice music.
Con: absolutely no alternatives for adults or kids that don't want Eritrean foods.

Family owned, located in an old Victorian. I have been going here for years, and the food continues to be elevated above typical Eritrean food... without a doubt one of the best options in town.

Interesting experience. I've never had Eritrean good before so it was really fun to eat using your hands from a shared plate, using the bread to scoop the food. The appetizers we order were delicious, but they came with the wrong filling - we order the beef but got the vegetable one. Overall a nice experience, good for parties of 3 or more people.

Reasonably priced, especially in SF, tasty east African food. Bug compared to other Ethiopian restaurants I have been taste and quality are average.

Always amazing. Lentils to die for. Wonderfully sour injera. The best place to get a special intimate experience with your love or friends. Perfectly consistent delightful flavors for all the years I have been going here. Now that I no longer live in the city, I will travel from hours away to get my fix. Great staff! Dig in!

Very nice and modest neighborhood Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurant. Previously had ordered take-out from here and liked it enough to come back and dine in this time.
Ordered the beef roundtip place (Kelfi?) and the veggie sampler. Way more than enough for two people to share. Comes with a generous serving of anjari (bread). Service is friendly and prompt in this family run restaurant and we both left full and satisfied. Loved loved loved the beef dish. It has this rich sauce that reminds me of mole and has such depth of flavor, it's amazing.

As a vegan, my go-to order is their veggie platter which offers a variety of unique flavors from all the other Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurants I've tried in the Bay Area and SoCal. It tastes so home-cooked and comforting. The ambience is great for a date and family dinner. My non-vegan family enjoyed their samosas very much. Even my 8 y.o. niece who's very picky with foods! They also have the best injeras I've ever tried. The only thing I wish they'd improve on is the service of their older male server who can be grumpy at times.

Tasty! We had the chicken & meat dishes mixed w veggies, and both were really good. Might want to order mild if that's an issue, as most items here are spicy by default.
