Review Doma - San Francisco

This dainty neighborhood sushi offers a cozy warm atmosphere in a cute venue. It was recommended by a foody friend to me, so I decided to gave it a try. It certainly has the chops, as the food is good and offer good portion to the value. But the chef is a bit rigid, inflexible and came across as a bit eccentric in the way he communicates, which stings the whole dining experience a bit. If you happens to like everything they has to offer, it will be a great experience for you. We thought the music was a bit loud, and saw there were no one else in the restaurant besides us, so we asked if he would lower the music volume a bit. "No" was his answer, and that is it, quick, simple, short, and to the point without any apologetic gesture. And that is what I meant, a bit rigid and inflexible. The kitchen and other staff were great and made up for this shortcoming. Overall the food is good and there are many courses, but if you are looking for a superb exquisite dining experience, this might not be the place for you.

Went tonight for my birthday and had a wonderful experience. The chef and hostess were very kind and the food quality and preparation were world class. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for omakase.

Really wonderful experience. I would argue one of my favorite restaurants in all of SF. The chef and his wife were wonderful, very very kind, on top of the food being so fresh and wonderful (plus filling!), the ambience was very nice. No loud music at all, nicely decorated and just a very romantic space. Would highly recommend, although it is at a decently high price, it is very worth it. Excited to come back again!

Great place, great food, great service! My wife and I had a reservation for a Tuesday night and couldn't of been more pleased. We had the preset menu that had a little bit of everything. Everything was equally delicious and reminded me of some of the great sushi from being in Japan. Our meal came out in multiple courses and seemed like neverending till the cheesecake came out, then I knew I could relax and know we just had one heck of a meal. Highly recommend to anyone liking sushi! Was a complete experience that I'd love to do again.

Really lovely evening with my friends and the friendly chef husband and wife pair. The vibe is very cute and the music is 10/10. The other guests were friendly, and we a had a really wonderful night. The omakase is certainly good, and I wish I could give it a 5/5. However there is better omakase in San Francisco at the $150 price point. The fish was decently sourced and portions were generous. The scallop caviar pairing was my favorite followed closely with the fatty tuna and wagyu. Unfortunately I docked a star because of the value and the rice was a bit dry and not well seasoned the night I went.

Amazing neighborhood joint and they have a great (warm and well lit) outdoor dining area! You get your own booth. I’ve been to many omakase restaurants in sf and it’s definitely there at the top of my list. 2 sets for $200 and it comes with sake too. Great value and delicious desserts too! The service here is also so friendly.

This was one of the most memorable omakase experiences we've ever had. It's a truly special experience. The whole place seats maybe 12 people at a time, all bar seating. It's run by a husband and wife team: he prepares the sushi behind the bar while she brings dishes and sake from the kitchen. The fish was of extraordinary quality. The chef did creative things I'd never seen before—like serving uni perched atop an artfully cut scallop, like a jewel set into a ring. The whole experience felt luxurious yet also nicely informal, as if you had come over to the private home kitchen of one of the greatest sushi chefs in the world. You leave happy and full. It's the perfect place for a splurge of a date night, or to celebrate a special occasion. My partner has celiac, and they were able to accommodate us no problem. We can't wait to come back!

Didn’t take pictures of everything. Too busy enjoying all the wonderful dishes. Amazing and fairly priced omakase. The owners are the sweetest! Thanks for having us. This was also my first meal being in San Fran. Great start to the trip.

We did the Omakase ($150 I believe?) was a 12 course meal with a portion of sake per person. We sat outside — The ambience isn’t amazing but we care more for the food. It was delicious and filling !! Which isn’t always the case.

The best Omakase. The sushi was exceptional, the ambiance is very comfortable, and the sushi chef and his wife are excellent and friendly. Would highly recommend-- very much worth the price and portions are generous for an Omakase.
