Great tasting food, good atmosphere, nice service!

Casual spot with good food. We had the papaya salad, Pad Pak and red curry. Everything was tasty and the decoration was very nice. Price was average for SF.

Really, really delicious meal. Started off with the vegan fresh rolls, which were tasty, but could have used a little less leafy greens and a bit more crunch or flavor within the wrap. Still tasty though.
I split the red curry with veggies and the Pad CU (without eggs or fish sauce) with my mom. Pad CU is one of my favorite Thai dishes and this was totally bomb.
In short, costs are mid-range, service was quick and friendly, and there were enough vegan options, life is good, belly is happy but still feeling fresh.

Went on a weekday when no one was there - the food was great and so was the service! Got a variety of appetizers and noodles as well. Keep up the great food, Chaiya Thai!

Super yummy pad Thai and papaya salads ! Better than most of Thai restaurants in SF . Large portions and they were so flavorful.

The food is extremely tasty! Best Thai food I ever had in USA

I ordered the pad woon sen and green curry via Cavisr, and while the meal got a tad pricey after all the convenience fees, it was delicious!! Cravings definitely satisfied, and the menu was vegetarian friendly. Somehow I made 5 meals out of this so it was worth it!

Such a cute space, and a really unique menu. Every item we got was delicious and presented really well. We had a lovely evening here. Thank you!
Favorites - key maow, pumpkin chicken curry, and Tom yum soup with vegetables.

Got the green curry, pad C U (pad see ew), and taro puffs. Everything was delicious, portions were good, but most importantly - GET THE TARO PUFFS! 🤩 We nearly turned around to pick up two more orders.

This West Portal gem not only has generous portioned traditional Thai cuisine, but features a warm and inviting atmosphere with kind and attentive staff.

Great food, atmosphere, and service. The staff is very nice and they go above and beyond for their customers. For the price, their portions are substantial and their quality is very consistent.

I was in San Francisco, looking for a new Thai restaurant, when I came across Chaiya Thai. I ordered my favorite Thai dish, pad prik king, along with some rice and a Thai iced tea. I went on a short walk in West Portal, returning about 15 minutes later to get my food, which was all securely packaged. Not really wanting to sit in my car, I found some steps at a nearby business which was closed for the day. I love spicy Thai food, and this dish completely lived up to my expectations. It was sinus-clearing hot, which some might not like. But I thought it was fantastic. The portion was quite generous, and I took about half of it home to share with my 15-year-old, who also really enjoyed it. I hope to return and try other menu items.

Ordered take out near the end of the lunch hour and they were helpful and knowledgeable over the phone. Delicious satay and tom kha gai (odd with cabbage, though). The eggplant dish had wonderful flavor. The crispy pork belly with rice was plentiful but underwhelming. I will go back, I've been having a hard time finding decent Thai food in the city, so I'm glad I randomly drove by this place and saw that it existed (very odd location).

Kinda hit or miss. Sometimes it’s really good, sometimes it’s not. When it’s good, it’s really good! When it’s not, it’s almost inedible.
They’ve got a decent menu, and it’s not even crazy expensive for San Francisco Thai food. The staff is pretty friendly, and their takeout is always fast. It’s a really cozy place inside and they’re never too busy.

Excellent food, fresh, authentic, spot on sauces!

I am absolutely addicted to their pumpkin curry! I get it weekly and their service is quick and delicious. I have also tried the fried calamari and taro/chicken curry puffs. 100% recommend.

what a great hidden gem in the west portal area. it's on Claremont so slightly out of the way, but thank goodness for that because all the other restaurants are always jam packed.
we ordered:
spring rolls (I recommend passing on these, nothing special)
jerky - amazing with a great sauce, most distinctive of the appetizers
calamari - very good also
chicken wings - had a sweeter sauce
lettuce wrap - had a nice ginger flavor, light, not greasy
mains
panang curry - clean taste, good quality beef, large portions
Prince curry - has a nice kick with a unique flavor
pad Thai - fine noodles, light on the fish sauce which we prefer
duck volcano - mostly a veggie dish with some duck, so don't order if your expecting a duck dish
service has been friendly and very attentive. highly recommend!

Friendly family-run establishment. They off food Thai standards and are pretty quick. They also have a brisk take out business. Good, friendly service. Any time I have been there mid-day it has not been crowded.

This is honestly one of our favorite Thai places in the city, we come over all the way from the Mission to visit sometimes. Great food, classy atmosphere, never crowded. Get the garlic prawns!
