I haven't been to this bar since before the Pandemic, but always had a great time there. The bartenders, and staff are very friendly, and professional. It looks like they are temporarily closed now, but This was always my go to neighborhood date night bar. I really hope Royal Oak re opens soon.
I really like this bar. It's a mellow lounge style bar with pretty friendly bartenders and plenty of couches. Perfect to bring a group of people and actually be able to talk to each other without a massive crowd or annoying patrons. Not to say that the place is empty. There are generally a handful of cool people there and reasonably priced drinks. Good fun times.
My husband and I recently went to San Francisco for our anniversary. We went and checked out Royal Oak at the end of our trip and we are so glad we decided to do so! We were treated like family from the moment we walked in. Katie made an amazing Moscow Mule and Phil had her back the whole night. Ari was slinging fabulous drinks left and right and didn't skip a beat. We even got to meet the owner of the bar and she was an absolute delight!
We loved the Victorian furniture and the vibe of the entire bar. The music was great and the crowd was so much fun. It was a perfect ending to such an amazing trip.
If you are visiting San Francisco we highly recommend that you go by the Royal Oak for some awesome drinks, great music, and a fun night out!
Royal Oak is a bit of a change from a lot of the Polk Street bars. It has more of a lounge feel with lots of couches, the music isn't so loud you can't hear and the drinks are well made. I like this place to meet up with people and start the evening. You can have a well made cocktail, sit on a comfortable couch and chat with friends. After a few drinks here you will be ready to take on some of the more chaotic bars of Polk street.
I've been here a handful of times for different holidays, events and regular outings. The couches are GREAT. All couches, everywhere. plenty of seating. The bartenders have always been nice and polite. Very comfortable and fun.
Check out Royal Oak to have a more intimate environment to chat and enjoy a drink with friends. The victorian vibe is super fun- stained glass light fixtures dimmed low and tons of couches and large tables to entertain your group. Don't leave your debit card here (like I did) though because they make it next to impossible to ever get it back.
Went there on a Wednesday. Good crowd, maybe 20ish people in the place. The wait staff left me wanting. Red lighting and cozy couches that you can sink into, give you courage to tell stories about your various heroic deeds. Go there and be merry.
Super chill vibes. The couches and other decor really make it a unique bar. Great place to start a night out.
Love this place. They have some very stranger operating hours but the bartenders are great conversation and the decor is acclectic.
Royal Oak is good. They need a bike share station outside their place to make it easier to get to though.
