Fantastic experience. The food was amazing. That said, as a table of pescatarians all we sampled were the fish dishes which were amazing. Couldn’t even pick a dessert so we just ordered one of each. There were three of us and all three of us favored a different one. Highly recommend this place!
We just enjoyed the best booth at Taste of Portero with the amazing bacon kimchi deviled eggs and pork tamales wrapped in kombu - such an amazing night we had to return for an even better brunch of seasonal eggs and perfect side of braised hen of the woods! My new favorite resto!
The food here was absolutely delicious! We loved everything we ordered, which included the crudo, deviled eggs, octopus, and lamb shank. The wine list has some very reasonably priced wines, which was also nice. The only downside was that the accustics were such that it was really hard to hear the person you were dining with. It could be that there were several large groups celebrating events the night I dined there and the restaurant is quite small. The food is definitely worth it, though.
I think their service is great and five stars on its own. The food is very tasty but there was a miss in the execution that dented the experience. We went for brunch, I had the chilaquiles. The whole black beans on the plate were quite hard. The taste of the dish was perfect besides that.
Tuna Tostadas are an especially delicious amuse-bouche. Salads were fresh with amazing croutons. The porkchop was cooked perfectly. The staff is incredibly attentive, though their attentiveness can be a bit overwhelming. Water glasses are insufficient, barely larger than a shot glass, requiring FREQUENT refilling that encroaches on the dining experience.
Their small bites were spectacular. The deviled eggs, tostada, and chicken liver mousse toast I recommend. Their wine list was great and affordably priced. Low ABV cocktails made by the bar manager at Al’s Place were inventive.
A hidden gem in the mission! Book ahead and enjoy the unique twist on dishes with a balance of vegetable and meat dishes. Crispy chicken and rice and tomato panzanella were standouts!
Markup on wine is VERY reasonable here. It comes out to around 2x retail (many places in the city are easily 3x retail).
Food was great. I'd recommend everything we ate: the Tuna & Uni Tostadas, the Yellowtail collar, spanish octopus, wagyu tartare, and the burger. Bonus points on the burger and the Tuna & Uno Tostadas.
Service and timing of the food was excellent. Just as we finished a dish, someone was swapping our plates and silverware and they were putting the next one in front of us. The staff was also very polite and helpful.
We went as a group of 8 on a Monday night to celebrate my fiance's birthday. They were packed and the previous party at our table stayed about an hour longer than expected but they did everything possible to make us feel welcome! We got to sample basically everything on the appetizer menu free of charge When we finally sat down, everything was amazingly delicious. Would definitely come back again!
Early Sunday brunch. Great food, generous portions but not overwhelming. Beer and wine only so don't expect the full array of brunch cocktails. Worth doing for sure!
Now after my second visit for restaurant week 2020, I’d say the food was excellent and the wine pairing was on point. They have great knowledge of the wine and how it complements their food
If you’re looking to eat a delicious Lamb Burgers this is the place don’t miss out stop by and check it out. You will want more. The vibe is great.
