We love This neighborhood place. The food is great (fresh homemade sausages are the best), good draft beer and yummy pies. Highly recommend for a quick bite

My new secret place. Great Fried Chicken Salad and the Poutine is a guilty pleasure! There's a lot more nuance to this food than you would think by walking in. If you like pretentious places with overpriced food this is not it. The portions are just right, and the quality of the meats is excellent. For me it's all about a place to go talk with a friend over dinner while having a nice meal.

As a nearby neighbor almost since the day they opened, I've eaten at P&P over thirty times, so I've had the chance to range over the full breadth of their menu. In general, I find their fresh-made sausages to be of higher quality than Rosamunde's, the portions larger, and served with a much friendlier attitude. Sides are also excellent, including their surprisingly exceptional fries, mac and cheese, and braised greens. The chicken bites are another hidden gem. The staff is also exceptionally friendly and overall the service is good to excellent. The chief knock I would make on P&P is that it can get a little pricey. I'd love to see them do a set of combo meals that gave you a little break when you add a side and a drink. Other minor complaints are that it is a little cold and sterile inside (though to be fair, a lot of otherwise great SF restaurants fall victim to this same syndrome). How about closing the door on cold nights, and putting down some carpet or curtains? But overall this place is really excellent - and open late! Update: Recent changes to the menu have only made this place even better. You can add fries or a salad for only a little extra, and their brunch menu has diversified a lot. Given all the great changes, I have to update my rating to five stars. Pig and Pie is awesome.

Order a beer at the counter, sit down, and worship at the alter of piggy goodness. I got the All Spice Braised Pork Shoulder and what emerged from the kitchen was a heaping plate of melt in your mouth pork atop well seasoned baked beans and a salad. With a side of cauliflower and a piece of delicious pie (or two) it easily made two meals. This place can get crowded, but don't miss out!

I went here for lunch with a friend. I ordered the apple salad and "gourmet" hot dog. The complimentary water is cold even though they serve it in stand-alone pitchers. They were surprisingly slow given that the restaurant was nearly empty. The salad was really good. Light, not too much dressing. The hot dog was also good. It came with grilled veggies on top. I'd go back.

This was a great find while walking through the Mission District! The sauteed greens were an amazing addition to the pork pie which was so yummy. They had a really great squid ink ale that made the experience exquisite. Casual with exceptional food.

First time customer, I was impressed. I had the mini pork pie with kimchi and baked beans. It tasted very well balanced. The cold and the acidity of the kimchi was a great accent to the full flavors from the pork and beans. For the price, the serving size may be small for most. But most of us are used to portions much to large anyhow. I walked out content and satisfied, looking forward to trying more of the menu.

My friend and I enjoyed an appetizer and a sausage each: the slaw was quite spicy and the pickle plate was a delightful collection of differently-pickled goodies. There was beef tongue, kim-chi, cauliflower (with raisins) and carrots. Each was quite good in its own way and of special note were the cauliflower in a wonderfully light curry vinegar and the tongue which reminded me of corned beef. Our sausage sandwiches were filling and delicious. I had the boudin blanc and my friend had the spicy italian. Both were evenly and well-flavored and paired well with the condiments offered on the menu. We each had a tasty pint of cider. I wanted to try the spicy pecan pie - but that will have to wait until a later visit! Cost for the two of us (2 sandwiches, two appetizers and two pints of cider) was $40. I would highly recommend this new eatery.

Serves a variety of sausages and other meaty dishes. I'm usually pretty happy with the entrees, though I feel everything is over-priced by a dollar or two. Sides are large and priced $4-6, but can easily be shared by more than one person.

Delicious. Affordable. Super friendly. Been going there since they opened and I always take out-of-town visitors, as it's welcoming and warm. There is something for everyone. Try the buttermilk fried chicken bites. So good, it should be illegal. You're welcome in advance.

I just moved to the neighborhood and happened across Pig & Pie when looking for brunch with my girlfriend. She had the biscuits and gravy and I had the Croque Madame (like a sandwich with ham a gruyere cheese topped with a fried egg). Both were delicious and above expectations especially for the quite reasonable price. I highly recommend this place.

Good Food, Good Price and the must get is the Tangerine Beer Float. I stumbled upon this place walking down 24th St and have been back several times. They have a great customer loyalty program and reward you for frequent visits. Sometimes in the evenings it gets pretty crowded and it's tough to find a seat but fun place to take guests from out of town.
