Absolutely amazing!! We hadn't planned on grabbing anything specifically, just been taking a walk on our way to the ferry, but the smells and beauty of this place drew us in! We ordered a few ounces of each of the pates, the pork being my favorite!!! And grabbed some jerky and sausage as well. What we didn't finish that day, we took to the park and had a picnic with the next day.

My favorite hot pastrami sandwich is here! Red cabbage slaw, melted cheese and hot meat on toasted rye! Yum!

Had their amazing dark chocolate croissant and their almond croissant 🥐 and we also got their strawberry jam filled pastry with a small macron puff on top (pictured). Talk about delicious! Get there early and find some shade. It's eating outside the marketplace that gives a truly quintessential San Francisco experience.

Great Hot Pastrami sandwich and good conversation whilst waiting - tell them your California Story

Living only 5 minutes away from the Fatted Calf in Napa I consider myself pretty lucky so when I was visiting my old pal Marlow Hinkletter and his little stab BeccaLin in the city, and the visit turned into dinner I went straight to the Fatted Calf down on the embarcadero. What a selection of everything I consider wonderful! Tonight's dinner is going to be duck, cooked to the rare side of medium rare.
It was spectacular! ☆☆☆☆☆

Small but tasty, they offer an array of different salumi including lamb bacon!! Their sandwiches which are also tasty.
So many different salumis you have to just ask to try them. The folks behind the counter are attentive, kind, friendly and most important helpful.
Seems almost like they live to share their meaty knowlege with you, just ask n see! They also have ready to go packs of their most popular meats as well as a few things I didnt expect like fresh baked pretzels (the bomb) comes with a spicy mustard (warning really spicy) also dried mushrooms and other accoutrements.
I cant wait to try my lamb bacon, Ill let you know in an update yummy or not, I will definetly be back, these guys do it right.

Nice little butcher shop by Hayes Valley- stopped by to purchase some cured meats and found quality Guanciale. Staff is all very friendly and the quality of the goods is top notch. A bit pricey but it's worth it!

Love the shop! The gentleman at the counter was so friendly and helpful this am. The soup was spicy pork posole, sounded amazing. We were walking so we weren't able to take with us at the moment. After our 8 mile walk around the city, I couldn't get the soup out of my head. We stopped back just prior to going back to our hotel. The soup did not disappoint!! So flavorful! The employees couldn't have been more helpful! The gentleman even remember me from the morning. Wish they shipped to WI. Will return next time I'm in the city. Thanks again!!

I was in town to see family and friends and asked some foodie local friends where the best butcher in town was, and off I went.
I know my way around a walk-in and I was met
With enthusiasm and insight. My butcher knew a ton about each of the purveyors of his meat and was able to articulate the differences. He totally nailed it. I bought two steaks and everyone tried a bit of each and both were amazing.
The pork rillette was also amazing and the 10lb pork butt was about one of the best I ever had.
If you live in SF this should be your butcher. If you’re visiting, this should be your butcher.

Amazing local butcher! We've become regulars at Fatted Calf the last few months. The staff are are incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful (while never being condescending if we don't know something about the meat we're interested in). We especially love their charcuterie meats - excellent selection and quality!

I love you, Fatted Calf, but the Ferry Building location is awful: difficult, expensive parking, wading through throngs of tourists, weird counter configuration and just plain inconvenient unless you live nearby. I used to frequent the Hayes St. shop, but have only made it to the new location once. Sigh.

Grabbed the hot pastrami which was insanely delicious! Highly recommend. Friendly staff too, which is always a plus.

Hands down my favorite butcher shop in SF. Their charcuterie and pates are top notch, as are their meats. Staff is patient and talented (it takes talent to slice meats properly with the deli slicer and talent to properly butcher). They can get almost anything if you order in advance. This place is not to be missed.

Cute store and butcher shop with a wide variety of meats. They offer a selection of specialty food items, cheeses, cured meats, and raw meats. It’s the ideal place to pick up some pate for a party, items for a charcuterie board, or meat for a fancy dinner. Keep in mind the location and clientele. This is an upscale butcher shop.
Staff was friendly.
