Review North India Restaurant - San Francisco

If there was a way to capture and retain flavors, I wish I could have done so with the Butter Chicken!! Super soft and juicy chicken marinated in the best buttery sauce! I almost licked my plate clean! Great location, easy to get to. Ample seating, awesome songs and ambiance, and the service was superb!!! I went for the lunch buffet and the variety of items was good, fresh, and delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant!

I loved the ambiance and atmosphere. We were the only one at the restaurant around 8.30pm on saturday night but they did have quite a few Uber Eats and Grub Hub orders coming in. Service was excellent. They did not have masala chai or coffee and it was freezing outside. Upon request they went out of their way to brew fresh tea while we wait for food. Food tasted good but could have been better especially garlic naan. It didn’t taste like garlic. Their Chapati with butter and paneer makhani was well made. I would recommend this restaurant as it’s centrally located in the downtown and if you are craving Indian cuisine.

The lamb vindaloo and king fisher beer are perfect combo. I have tried lamb vindaloo in multiple places before, they were usually a little bit salty. Here, it is very tasty, I finished the entire dish including all the curry. It is not as spicy as I hoped but really delicious. Waiter told me it is American spicy :) The place is clean with very nice music.

Amazing North Indian food and desserts! They have legit North Indian chefs, a very attentive waiting staff, and good service. I only wish the garlic naan was fresher.

Loved the chicken tikka masala it could serve two. They don’t rush you here. I also got the vegetable samosa which was pretty good. The sauces it came with was spicy. Worth a try if you want authentic Indian food.

I've had the pleasure of eating here twice and have only had positive experiences. Phenomenal food, speedy service and great atmosphere. If you have an indian food craving and are in SF, make sure to come to North India so workers like Amrinder Singh and others can make you feel at home

The best Indian restaurant in the city! Chicken tikka Masala, tandoori chicken, garlic nan are all so fresh and delicious. I can leave out the mangolassi! 😋😋😋

Super fast courteous service. The staff are very friendly & hospitable. The food is authentic, good portion sizes and delicious. We were in & out in an hour thanks to the surprisingly fast service. We left with happy full bellies.

Ambience and service is pretty good. Food was fresh, however paneer gravy was little salty, I would probably recommend to try out biryani. Need to park at a nearby parking lot, the restaurant itself doesn't have any parking. the neighborhood is safe though.

This place is close to the place we stayed in so we went there for dinner. It was not crowded. The menu is old with prices not updated. They blatantly said that everything is $2 extra over what is written. We ordered Aloo parantha. It was well prepared, just that it was a little bland in taste. So we ordered paneer jhalfrasy and assorted breads. Overall, the food was tasty and filling. For the price point only I deducted the rating. But otherwise, it was a decent option.

The experience was amazing. Our server Palvinder was an excellent person. He was quick and agile and was very courteous. It's been a long time that I had such a nice experience in any restaurant. This place revived my faith in ever loosing hospitality industry. Definitely recommend this place, if you ever visit San Francisco, and want to enjoy some good Indian cuisine.

Amazing food !!! Everything we ordered was soooo good and way way way more than expected. The restaurant is so beautiful with roses out at each and every table. The staff were all so lovely and kind. Always smiling and happy to answer questions about the menu and offer recommendations. This is absolutely a place you could add into your regular rotation. Happy to support this business always

The restaurant is a must visit for if you are looking for Indian Cuisine. You will get the authentic Indian taste and the service is one of the super fast (food is hot and flavorful) which I have ever seen. A must visit if you are in San Francisco.

My daughter and I loved it! The Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chicken Tikka Kabob were so delicious. The chicken was so tender and the masaka sauce was good enough to drink. The rice was very good as well. The texture of the garlic/cilantro naan was good (nice combination of tender and crispy), but needed a little more flavoring. The restaurant was nice and the music was enjoyable.

Worst biryani ever tasted in my life. We went there in a group of three at around 8.30 PM on 12th March 2017. We asked for a lamb biryani, a prawn biryani and a chicken biryani. And it was a nightmare when they served the food. The biryani was soupy at the bottom of the bowl (first ever) and it tasted like exactly like khichdi. The rice for all three of the biryani was same and just put pieces of lamb, prawn and chicken in respective orders. We ordered a meat platter as starter and it took so much pressure to cut the chicken & lamb pieces with fork and knives that we were done with just one piece. Just stay away.

Meh. Not the worst Indian food I've ever had but certainly no where near the best. The chicken in my korma was dry and stringy, the sauce was a bit gritty as the cashews were merely crushed and sprinkled on top instead of pulverized and incorporated into the sauce. Naan was a bit undercooked. The service was okay. Restroom could have been cleaner. We went to this restaurant after the benefit concert for bay area fire survivors and first responders because it was open and serving a full menu until 11:pm--next time we crave Indian while in San Francisco, we'll try somewhere else.

The staff was very welcoming, there was a nice variety of dishes to enjoy at the buffet, and the decor and music were great! Parking was a slightly challenging, but hey.. It's SF! I'll definitely return.

The food for the buffet lunch was fine, but the service was appalling and extremely rude. All of the staff looked unhappy.

I really like Indian food. However, I enjoy it in a strange way. I know my preferences aren't standard. First, I don't like rice (unless in dessert, as rice pudding). So I never use rice as a base. Second, I don't like beans or legumes, or potatoes really, so all lentil or chickpea based dishes, all the dal, all the aloo dishes, they are out. I don't really care for yogurt, so, goodbye, raita. I hate lamb, and don't like chicken. And, although I love dessert, I tend to not care for Indian desserts, they are too sweet, and I don't care for rosewater and cardamom that much.

Had dinner from here last night. Had naans , dal makhani , tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala. The naan and the dal were bad. The chicken though was good in both ways.

I found the service to be hit and miss, and found myself having to repeatedly request the bill at the end of the evening.

The chicken was disappointing as I found myself having to pick out several pieces of unchewable gristle while eating, with not a bit of white meat to be found.

Service was polite and attentive. Menu was exactly what you would expect of a restaurant named north India. Included several veg, chicken, and lamb offerings. Food was good, price was reasonable, what's not to like.
