One of my absolute favorite restaurants in SF!! The ambiance is perfect with a fun Latin music flare on the Pisco side and an eclectic and comfortable vibe on the Destino dining side. The owner instills his sense of friendliness and strong desire to make sure every aspect of the dining is perfect on his entire staff, which just makes the place feel super inviting and friendly. Everyone that works there seem happy all the time and it shows in the entire environment of the restaurant.
But most importantly, the food and drinks are ALWAYS 💯! The drinks, heavy on the Latin-American influence, are all unique and fun, many of them relying on the Peruvian pisco. Last time I was there there were drinks with avocado and pickle juice, and lots of other neat surprises. The wine menu is also really well curated. The food though...as a person who grew up in Florida raised on a steady diet of almost all Latin-American food, especially living for a good period of time in Miami, I find the menu to be the best and most true to tradition good from countries in central and South America. I’m always impressed by the quality of everything they serve and will continue to go back as often as I can!
SO many wonderful memories of great meals with good friends have been shared here at Destino on Market. I love this place. For me, if it ever closes, it will be a sad, dark day in SF. Until then, I'll come by ever so frequently enough to enjoy the diverse and delicious menu, preferably family style, as well as the terrific cocktails and service. Treat yourself and come eat here. :-)
This review in based on bar area only. This place has some of the best and unique cocktails I've had in a while. Though they are somewhat pricey, they are truly unique and have Spanish feel to them. We decided to go next door to this spot from the Japanese yakitori restaurant because my wife said they have very good drinks here. I'm glad I listened because I was very happy with the drinks I ordered. If you don't have any idea of what to order the bartender is very helpful and knowledgeable since he and fellow bartenders help craft the cocktails on the menu. Good atmosphere for simply hanging out with a friend or a date. It wasn't too busy on Friday night and it wasn't too loud.
Visited Destino for SF restaurant week and wasn’t disappointed!
Bruce was our waiter and he was friendly, approachable and went above and beyond. There were plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options as well.
The wine menu was ample and the pisco was delicious!
Would definitely recommend even if you’re just going for a drink!
Only thing that could be improved is the yucca fries, they had the string/veins cooked in them which made them hard to eat.
Elegant dining in a low key friendly atmosphere. The food is delicious, well seasoned & reasonable proportions. Our server was friendly & solicitous.
Service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious. Reasonable prices and great happy hour.
What a pleasant surprise! I had no idea this restaurant was here, since I admittedly don't explore new neighbourhoods as often as I would like, so I'm so happy I found this place on Yelp :) I'm a big fan of restaurants that specialize in tapas since it makes such a fun, social experience for both small groups and large. This time 'round, it was just one friend and I enjoying the meal here (was seated in the dining room immediately even without a reservation, and there's also a separate bar area if that's more your style). While enjoying some glasses of wine, we shared the ceviche sampler, plantain chips (which add the perfect crunch when combined with the ceviche), brussel sprouts, Panceta con Pallares, and ended with the bread pudding. All of it was sooo good! I just went here last night and I'm already looking forward to my next visit ;)
Such great food! The lomo saltado must be ordered along with the ceviche peruana. I can name more dishes but then I would be reciting the menu. I haven't even mentioned the desserts. Also a great vibe, it is connected to their sister bar, so after dinner just walk through the opening and you're in the bar. And that bar is where you get amazing cocktails. My favorite is the sideways sour. Also James (the owner and original chef) is usually there visiting tables to see that you are enjoying your meal. That is a great touch!
Nice dinner here tonight. Good ambiance, awesome decor. We had some sangria, which was nice and spicy, and some light food (yucca fries 3.5/5, empenandas 4/5 and a dish with marinated pork shoulder and queso fresco 4.5/5).
Will definitely come back.
I've had trouble finding a good caipirinha in this town, but I'm pleased to say that this place delivers the goods. While we were there for drinks, we snacked on some plantain chips, and we were surprised at how good they were with the accompanying mint vinaigrette. We'll definitely be trying a meal here soon.
Tasty dishes, though some are quite small. Great vibe. Recommend ordering at least one big plate to share; the acorn squash in particular is fabulous.
Very nice bar that isn't too crowded, but still has a great vibe and super friendly staff. I only got drinks here, but the pisco sours tasted better in Peru.
