Awesome bar with Belgian beers.
They had way too many beers from around the globe to try.
We tried a few and they were awesome, the bartender was friendly and a good conversationalist
Could not try the food but would visit here again.
If you love beer, you will love this place with a crazy awesome selection of Belgian beers. In Belgian fashion each beer is served in its proper glass. Mussels will not disappoint and those fries... yum!
Ok this place is amazing. Over 500+ beers, great food and brilliant service. THIS PLACE IS BRILLIANT. I must visit for the Craft beer drinker. Just need to give yourself a few weeks to try all the beers :)
Good beer selection with its own glass. Food is reasonable and taste is okay for food bar style. Belgium cafe atmosphere.
Great place to stop and have a Belgium Ale. Great selection of beers on tap and bottle. Owner is awesome and a wealth of knowledge on everything beer. They get everything right here right down to the glassware! A must stop for any beer lover!
Decent Belgian gastropub in North Beach. Their basement is a good low key bar to watch sports
Beer: Large and tasty selection.
Food: Delicious bar food.
Service: Lacking. Waiter was too easily frustraded during busy times.
If you are a lover of Belgium beer, or beer at all, or want to be more of a beer snob, then this is a great place to go. They have one out the best Belgium beer selections in the city, both on tap and in the bottle. The upstairs dining section is fairly small however once you descend to the basement the restaurant opens up. They also have some decent food options to keep you drinking longer. The fries are definitely a great selection. The beer list looks like a novel but start at the table of contents or a bartender recommendation. Beers here aren't cheap by any means but if you love good beer you have to stop by here.
This place is high quality. The selection of Belgian and Belgian-style beers here is nothing short of incredible. Be careful not to drop the beer menu on your foot - it's so big you might have to make a trip to the emergency room. OK you already knew that. Let's move on to the rest.
They serve mussels four different ways. I've tried at least three of them, and they're all tasty. I wasn't impressed with the burger. I think the fries were great.
The reason that La Trappe hasn't earned its fifth star is due to the limited hours and the extremely busy and loud environment on weekends. Try to come here on a Wednesday night instead.
In short: Good food and awesome beer.
We visited this restaurant shortly after moving from Belgium, and were very pleased with the food, drinks and atmosphere. Most of their seating is downstairs (below ground), with a couple tables upstairs. Because we've always gone with a big group including babies, we've always sat upstairs. The beer selection was good and the servers are great at giving suggestions. The food was very tasty and reminded me of meals we had in Belgium. Definitely a place to go again!
