Went with another couple and the menu definitely changed and upgraded. Got to sit out in the back which was a change from sitting upstairs. We had Michael as a server and he was outstanding.
The food choices were plentiful and the main entrees were really good. Definitely will be back soon
Fine & welcoming lounge and dining!
Southern influenced, toney and up-market, and did I mention the Killer bar & tenders? Y'all best look!
Upstairs is a great lounge with high tables and great service. The bar staff is professional, welcoming and produce delicious drinks, house specials are just that. The cuisine is Southern influenced and excellent. Pot roast is killer! Never had a bad dish or drink here, and that says mucho
Nice fine dining in the Castro. Saw popularity on Urbanspoon and decided to check it out. We're so glad we did! Had a great Sunday dinner on Milk Day. Shared special app of Tuna Sashimi, which was quite tasty along with our Temparanillo wine (a bit overpriced on the wine). Loved our spicy Gumbo and earthy, crispy Pork Belly over greens and white beans. Capped off the night with a beverage upstairs at the bar, which was a nice wind-down. Loved it!
Great bar and food. I was by myself, the only one, took a few wines to not feel too much like a nasal wart!! I will cum back though
Good food+ good prices :). The only downside is as the place got busier the service was not so good. I would come back.
Eureka serves American cuisine in an elegant but cozy spot on 18th Street. The place looks like a former home that was turned into a restaurant, although that was probably many years ago because there were several restaurants in that spot before Eureka op
Came here with friends on a Friday night for dinner. The fried chicken was great and I had at least three of those Palmoas (they're strong, watch out!). A+ experience, will be back.

Eureka is good upscale southern inspired food. It’s not quite traditional southern food, it’s elevated, with a California feel to it. The bar is always hoppin’ and the several small dining rooms are cozy and always pretty full. Service is great. The food doesn’t quite have a wow factor that would make me want to give it 5 stars, but I always thoroughly enjoy it.
We stayed a few days in Castro on a west coast holiday from London. Was recommended Eureka by the bar man in twin peaks, and what a good recommendation it was. The restaurant and upstairs bar was busy but the host managed to find us a table. I had the spicy jambalaya and she had the meatloaf with mash and veg. Both were delicious. We had a lovely relaxed evening, shame we weren't staying longer as we would have been back.
The atmosphere, service, and food are sophisticated but not stuffy. They class up southern food enough to feel good eating it, but not too much to be unauthentic. The corn bread was a little dry but I'd highly recommend the gumbo.
Best fried chicken served in the Castro! Comfort food all round, tho in a non-diner setting, it's a most comfortable space; when the weather's agreeable reserve back patio table and should your party need a place to meet for the evening's start, consider the upstairs bar an ideal beginning. There's much to enjoy from the menu, items rotate perodically, and favorites always return.
Came here for a drink with friends after dinner but we were so enticed by the menu that we had to get a couple of apps. We ordered the pork grinds and pork belly. Both were delicious. The onion relish that comes with the pork grinds goes really well together. The pork belly is melt in your mouth delicious.
The service was extremely nice and the place was pretty busy. Decor is super cute. Can't wait to come back to try their dinner entrees one night.
Ambience - Quite nice. Good place to chill.
Fried Chicken - Quite good. Very generous portion.
Grilled Salmon - Great. Good portion served with mashed potato and vegetable. Personally I liked it more than fried chicken.
Service staff - very friendly and pleasant. Best service I experienced during my visit to San Fran!
My friends enjoyed their steak too!
I was there a few days ago with my friends (a group of 8) while visiting castro street in San Francisco. Their service staff set a table for us at the upper floor, their bar & lounge. The ambience was nice and definitely felt like a good place to chill. They even brought lit candles to our table!!!
Shorlty after we placed our order, ice water, bread and butter were served before our ordered food came. Being asians, we usually dont like bread that much but we tried theirs and we loved it. And the waiting staff very thoughtfully brought us another serving of bread after seeing how much we enjoyed it! Two thumbs up!!!! And they let my friend try their wine first before she ordered one and she enjoyed her wine too.
Our food came soon enough and as I said ealier, we all enjoyed their food and service.
Overall, a great experience and the best service among a few restaurants we went during our short visit to LA, Vegas and San Fransisco.
P.S. I dont usually write reviews. In fact, this is my first time writing a review here. Their service was so good that I had to write one. :)
We went there because we bought a LivingSocial Deal. We reserved a table upstairs and at the window. We had the perfect view! The server told us the 2 tables upstairs at the window are the most preferred ones. Especially around 8pm. So definitely call to reserve! The service was great. Very friendly staff. And we both had the same dish "pot roast" because we both love it and it was as good as it gets!:) It was really delicious, not too dry, perfect. I finished everything even I was full already. The breadpudding is also very good! We'll go there again!
I've been going to Eureka since they first opened. The food has always been great, service wonderful and the bartenders are impeccable. I'm from the south and love the creole influence. The bar has always had excellent bartenders who know their drinks and the clients who order them. Love this place!
