My review and experience of “Trattoria Da Vittorio”
First let me say that its nestled away in the West Portal Area of SF right by Sloat Blvd and Vicente St – easily accessible by Monterey Blvd, Highway 280 and Ocean Blvd. We have known Vittorio for 5 yrs and have finally made it to his restaurant. What a great night! The wife and I had a blast, we sat at the bar counter which gave a us a great view of the entire restaurant and the pizza maker. We started with salad, Caprese con Burrata and Organic Beet Salad. Both of them very flavorful, you could smell the freshness as they were placed in front of us. Our second plate, I had the special which was Pappardelle with Crab Meat with a white cream sauce. The pappardelle was cooked perfectly and the cream sauce smooth, no separation of ingredients. I swear I had a least a pound of fresh cooked crab on the plate. The flavor all put together was perfect. It wasn’t inundated by sauce and pasta, the crab actually stood out and tasted great. The wife had the Beef Boneless Short Ribs, complimented with veggies and polenta. All fresh and cooked perfectly. No need for a knife, the short ribs melted in your mouth, the veggies cooked perfect and the polenta added the final touch. No overuse of salt and craziness. Mind you, we got in around 6 PM, and the entire night there was a line outside of at least 15-20 people waiting with Kids! BTW – the pizza maker makes Mickey Mouse shaped pizzas for the kids – so a definite treat. If your kids are old enough to sit at a bar stool go and sit at the counter and watch him in action. Red wine cabernet with dinner – followed by a Cannoli and Tiramisu and Double Espresso for dessert. Best part about it, we ordered two pizzas to go to bring home to the kids. Overall – worth the trip to SF, had a great time, no rush, fresh food, great atmosphere, and a repeat for sure. Thanks Vittorio D'Urzo - see you again soon.
Great place for dinner what was of friends got seated pretty quick new favorite place it's family-friendly
A great comfy neighborhood Italian restaurant in West Portal. It's not super fancy but serves authentic Italian food and drinks. I'm like most places in SF, the portion is fairly generous, and the price is affordable.
Very great food and great staff. Very busy inside as usual on a Saturday night, however the waiter did a great job and food still came out high quality as well as on time. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re going through 19th avenue. No reservations needed.
Really delicious and authentic Italian food! Service was great! Will definitely go back again!
We were looking for a lunch spot around the zoo when we came across this place. We got here and were immediately greeted and seated. We chose to sit outside, so we didn’t see much of the inside. Service was prompt and attentive. My husband got a pizza and I got the chicken Parmesan. Both of us enjoyed our food immensely. The portions were large and I had plenty to take home. The next time we come to San Francisco we will definitely try to come by again!
Excellent flavor, good drinks, terrific presentation. A little pricey but meets expectations for the prices.
Very good italian cuisine. We order the spaghetti and meatballs. It tastes very good and the meatballs are perfect according to my taste.. we also ordered the pizza.. it taste good too.. And don't forget to order the tiramisu and profiteroles for thr dessert..
This is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in the city! The location is really nice and safe, there’s parking, there’s outside seating area (for hot days) and so many options in terms of food including for people with dietary restrictions (I.e. gluten-free, dairy free) and the food NEVER disappoints in taste! I love coming here regularly, they’re so worth every penny! 😋
Was my first time there and was truly amazed! It’s rare nowadays to be able to walk into a bustling restaurant and be seated immediately. The food was incredible and the staff were so warm and friendly. This will be one of my favorite spots from now on :)
Dog friendly with only a few outdoor tables. Everything overall is good. The meatballs were a bit too lean for me but the flavor was good. We both like how thin the pizza crust was, reminds us of NY pizza. But the middle part was a bit soggy. We got chocolate souffle but it was more like a chocolate lava cake, which we didn't mind, it was good, not too sweet.
Food was good, as usual, with a few small letdowns. The tomato bruschetta was soggy rather than crunchy, the zucchini was fridge-cold, the eggplant parmigiana was smaller and a bit burnt on the edges, and they didn't offer the usual bread and oil to nimble on.
Otherwise, very nice and fast service. I loved my much needed carbonara fix.
