Review Han Ii Kwan Korean Restaurant - San Francisco

My favorite Korean restaurant in SF! It’s usually popular. Luckily, it wasn’t busy during dinner on a Monday so we were able to get seated right away. The food was so authentic. The tofu soup was good. The galbijjim was awesome!!! And the pancake was delicious as well. Service was good and fast. Plus they served a whole steamed egg with every table. Cons: Parking was so tough near the restaurant. Expect a wait. If you’re willing to wait and find parking, highly recommended 🙌🏻

Han Il Kwan is perhaps the quintessential Korean grilled meat cuisine in SF providing authenticity without apologiess. Simply love all the variety of dishes (many of them not available in Americanized Korean restaurants) prepared in a home-style cooking construct. The short-ribs are the highlight here. Consistenly tasteful, tender, and magical. They clearly have figured out their supplier and how they grill this with marination. There are other dishes like chicken riblets or intestine soups and again, what's lovely is that none of them feel like a "commercial" product. Yes, it may not hit you with the MSG-filled taste. Certainly not "perfect". But you'll feel the heartiness. My only issue with Han Il Kwan is parking. SF street parking at Richmond is impossible at best. Yes, once in a while yuo get lucky. But overall, you're better off Ubering to

I had an amazing experience at the Korea restaurant! The variety of delicious small dishes they served before the meal were a delightful start to the dining experience. The food service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made sure we had everything we needed. The galbi jjim is very authentic, tender and flavorful. I'll definitely be returning for more memorable meals!

The banchan selection here can't be beat. I ordered the mul- naengmyeon which was great, and added some of the brisket from the barbecue selection to supplement. We tried the spicy pork and the unseasoned brisket, both of which were great. Servers will bring a complementary tofu soup during the meal and sweet rice dessert at the end, so come prepared to eat a lot. After tip, $55/person with plenty of leftovers to take home.

Good traditional Korean food with tons of different banchan, side dishes. I got the galbitang and thought it was one of the better galbitangs that I’ve had at a restaurant. This place was highly rated and I even had to wait almost 45 minutes to get in so definitely a popular spot! Food The galbitang here was really good. Usually restaurants will skimp on how much galbi, or meat, that they give you but this place was different. Tons of meat to my surprise and it was nice and tender. Soup was a little bit salty though for me. I also got the seafood pancake because that is one of my favorite staples to get at any Korean restaurant. It was disappointing, especially for the amount that it costs. The pancake was lots of batter and not much vegetables or seafood. It wasn’t crispy either. But it was not that oily, which is good. The banchan was really good and there was tons of variety. They also give you a steamed egg as service, and it was good. Atmosphere Pretty busy for a Saturday night and I had to wait almost 45 minutes to get seated. Definitely oriented for groups since they don’t have seating for 1-2 people. I dined alone and sat at a 4 person table (I dined as fast as I could). Noise level was pretty high with all these people and grilling kbbq going on. Casual atmosphere and dress would be fine here. Pricing Very expensive Korean food compared to what I’m used to in Seattle. The seafood pancake was $22 and didn’t have much seafood either. The kbbq set also pretty pricey in my opinion, but I did not get it. Price could be normal for San Francisco though and food quality was there. Service Service was okay. Only times they came by my table was to take my order, bring food, and take my money. I had to flag down someone to ask for refills on banchan but they would take the dish and then never came back with it. They were very busy though so I don’t fault them too much for it. Other No parking/very little parking in a pretty residential area. Be prepared to wait if you have a large party. The food was good overall and so I give it 4 stars.

Called in an order to go almost as soon as they opened. There were already people piling in on a weekday afternoon. Inside has a good amount of tables, but im sure it gets crowded fast. We ordered rice cake and meat dumpling soup, galbi and bibimbap lunch specials. They gave lots of different banchan and tofu soup with the lunch specials. The galbi was tender and so tasty. The bibimbap was already mixed and the spicy sauce they gave really complemented the dish. We tried the rice cake and dumpling soup as it’s something we dont usually see on menus. The soup was really hearty and perfect for the cold afternoon. Their lunch specials are definitely worth the price. I think regular prices for some items are kinda expensive, but worth for the quality of food and all the extra sides they give. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Was looking for a different place to eat and saw they had over 1,000 reviews. I don’t remember when I last had Korean so I don’t remember the name of this dish but the presentation was amazing and there was a lot of food! I paid $23 total which was very reasonable! Everything was so good I had to force myself to stop eating. I will definitely return to this gem!

My family and I have been going here for years! It's the best quality for the price, and they make the best Soft Tofu Soup. My uncle believes they don't put the oyster in their soup, and that's why it tastes so good to me... but I don't know, I think it's just perfectly balanced between the texture and spice. For all my Korean curious friends, this is my go to spot to introduce them to food. Love all their pickled radish and fish cake!! They give you 8 different dishes (more than most of the high end Korean places in town). Kimchi is made in house and has a great tomato to spicy ratio in the flavor. I also enjoy their pancakes when we have a larger crowd, it's always a great addition. You know it's good when the Korean tour bus pulls up and the Korean visitors eat there! During the week they offer an excellent lunch special that includes the soup... And they let you order the lunch special to go ❤️ pro tip, if you order to go, reheat the kalbi on cast iron grill pan.

Came here this past Friday around prime dinner time at 7pm and there was obvi a wait. It didn't last that long as we opted for any table and got seated in the corner grill-less spot. Staff is so nice and warn. We opted for marinated and non marinated galbi, pork belly, steamed egg, tofu soup, rice which all came with banchan. The food is fire and we were so stuffed at the end. Had another meat option in mind and so thankful the server said to not order it as he said with what we got it would just be filler. For 2 with tax and tip came out to under $200. Worth it and actually was ok not grilling my own food thus time around. Quality service and food nothing else you need. This place is a must try and worth the venture going westerly.
