Good service and excellent food. Love oysters and Alfred's cut here!
FABulous! : ) We had a huge group (35+) and booked the private dining area on the bottom floor. The service was superb, the food was delicious, the wine was wonderful, and the ambiance was perfect. The group all loved it. Nice bar upstairs as well! I would highly recommend Alfred's Steakhouse for any event, friend/family dinner, or intimate night out. Thanks so much to the Alfred's team for taking such great care of us and providing an exceptional experience for our guests.
WOW! I have read some of the reviews and am shocked. I've been frequenting Alfred's since I was a young lad. This is one of the premier restaurants in the City. The steaks are incredible. They make home made ravioli. The bar is renown for holding top whiskey. I normally have my dinner at the bar and the service has always been exceptional. There's one thing I cannot stand and that's an arrogant, inattentive barkeep and I have never seen that at Alfred's. The barkeep has always been top notch. This is one of the few joints around where they actually know how to make a proper martini.
I personally know the owner, Marco. He's a consummate gentleman raised in the restaurant business. If you want fast food this isn't the place to come to. Enjoy your experience at Alfred's. Don't rush it. Let Marco and his crew take care of you and I promise, you will have an enjoyable evening.
The flavor of the steak is great. The price for the entire meal, which includes two sides almost seemed low for the amount of food I received. I had the Chicago ribeye. The marbling was perfect and there weren't huge globs of fat. The only improvement would be on the shared starter, which was cheese, olives, etc. The quality wasn't that great and I could have done without it.
This is my kind of place. Great bar and happy hour (can't beat an $8 martini where they give you the rest in the shaker). Bar bites are so good, the beef tartare is amazing. The food has always been steakhouse yum but I go for the ambiance.
Excellent steak, great service and a venue fit for Al Capone and the boys. The food was excellent and the drinks did not disappoint. It's a little pricey, especially if you want anything other than the house wine, but it was an enjoyable evening and well worth the price.
The new alfreds is just great! The bartender is top notch,, as is the atmosphere. They still need to retrofit some of the old decor, but the nostalgia is fun. Food is good, and continues to evolve. Go now, and enjoy!
Sexy, classy, historic-yet-modern. Love the dramatic & glamorous ambience: romantic lighting, rich red walls, tinted mirrors, chandeliers, flowers. Service was top-notch, from the hostess, to our waiter, and wait staff. Very knowledgeable sommelier with great reccomendations! Everyone was attentive & approachable. My hubby took me out for a date here last night. They have a great martini menu and other classic drinks with a modern twist. Started with the Vesper Martini which has a nice lemon flavor. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller and shared the Porterhouse Dinner for Two with a bottle of Syrah. This was more than enough food for two, and so delicious! The dinner comes with bananas foster for dessert, prepared at your table! Definitely a great place to have an intimate, special date night. Some tips: Do park at the Hilton hotel next door. It's valet, but covered by the restaraunt- just bring good tip money. Do dress cocktail/business casual/professional. Don't rush through this great, intimate, dinner experience.
I love Alfreds I've gone there since I was a child it was always my parents anniversary dinner spot. It's proper to how a steakhouse should be. The steaks are superb. Now that I am 22 I would take dates there if the occasion was 'significant' enough but I always go for the filet mignon cooked rare I would not need a knife at all I could cut it with a spoon cook to perfection and with the fois gras. The service incredible the drinks strong. Always pair with wine. And desert the New York cheesecake with an Irish coffee. It's amazing. For me it's more than a restaurant it's family it's great memories. It's wholesome and reminiscent of a much simpler and sophisticated time.
Great food; great decor; great service. What more can be said? Their $38 prix fixe dinner for two is a bargain. They also have three-hour complimentary free parking at the nearby Hilton with validation.
