Great experience, loved all the photos of famous directors and the special 92th academy awards wine bottle. Also got to experience the recording studio below the restaurant.
Hidden gem amongst many other restaurants in the area. The staff were very friendly. They were extremely accommodating to my wife with her guide dog. We split a fennel salad which was plenty for both of us, and had a pasta with marinara sauce and chicken cacciatore. We also had a bottle of the Director’s Cut Cab. Highly recommended.
Nice experience, it takes you back in history since it’s in the original condition since 1999. The staff was also friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were good as well. I enjoyed the dinner and most likely I will return again
A comfortable place. Is very cozy and nice. You can have a nice meal here. The wines collection is huge. The prices are reasonable for the area. The service is great. The cheese platter could have been a little bit more bigger. Or with some dry fruits.
Loved the experience! This place is lovely! The staff is super friendly and the food is very delicious!
it goes without saying that Cafe Zoetrope is an excellent establishment. Some of the best Italian Food you can ever get in San Francisco. I have come to Cafe Zoetrope a handful of times ranging from 2009 - present day and they are exceptional. Their Pizza and their salads and pasta are on the level of Italian Food in Italy.
Francis Ford Coppola, while arguably one of the greatest filmmakers of all time; is also a purveyor of some of the most inarguably best Italian Food, especially Pizza, in San Francisco. If you understand how Italian Food in Italy is or you are Italian I am sure you would agree but if you don't, what can I do? I went to Italy and think this food is exceptional and on that level as much as anything can be in San Francisco. Plus, the building is beautiful and the staff is very professional and has a good decorum. Well mannered and efficient. Extremely good customer services skills. Hard working Chiefs in the Kitchen who are doing a very honorable service to the City of San Francisco. Lots of respect to these people.
This place is also a standard bearer for how a business should be run, at least on the surface towards the customer and in regards to the quality of their food and value per cost. Their prices are reasonably, responsibly and correctly priced for what they are from an objective standpoint.
In my humble and honest opinion, I wish more Pizza Establishments would study and analyze and assess Cafe Zoetrope in a variety of ways such as their product, service and pricing. A lot of struggling businesses could resurrect themselves if they were willing to take a page out of Cafe Zoetrope's book. That is just my objective perspective on it, but who am I?
Blessings, Cafe Zoetrope. May you continue to prosper.
Classic Italian dishes done right. Enjoyed the mushroom and sausage pizza especially.
I've been meaning to hit up Cafe Zoetrope for a while now and I finally did it! This spot has such a chill and relaxed vibe that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time with all the cool artifacts and photos of the famous filmmaker fam, the Coppolas.
My friend and I just popped in for a coffee break and the coffee was on point. The service was also top-notch and the light music was the perfect background for a good ol' girl talk sesh. And can we talk about the dope green tableware that matched the building's color? So cool!
If you visit on a warm, sunny day, definitely grab a seat outside. The location is ideal since it's at the end of Kearny Street where it's peaceful and quiet. I totally recommend checking this place out!
I went to Cafe Zoetrope on a whim – a friend met me at my work, a couple blocks away, and I suggested this place as I had never been there but had walked by many times. We sat outside on the Kearny Street side, and as it was about 1:30pm – after the lunch rush – it was not crowded, and in fact fairly quiet given our close proximity to the street.
A waiter quickly brought out bread and water, and then we ordered – a chicken salad for my friend and a chicken sandwich for me. Both were very good. I took half my sandwich with me, it was so filling. The bread came with oil and vinegar, instead of butter, which we both liked. After, we ordered coffees – a cappuccino and a latte for me – and enjoyed some conversation before returning to work. Our waiter came and checked on us unobtrusively during the meal, refilling our water glasses and taking away our dishes when we were finished. I really enjoyed the meal, although it cost a little more than I usually pay. But both the food and the service were excellent, and I will be back.
Nice night to sit outside & enjoy a lovely dinner. Spagetti vongole, outstanding flavour, Spagetti carbonara, to die for, the food, service, ambiance, all was perfect, wonderful italien restaurant, by Francis Fird Copolla, you all have to try it, delicious.
