Review Alioto's - San Francisco

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food were quite affordable!! Managed to get some mains and soup at only 18.95. Ordered a pacific rockfish (first picture) and it turned out great!! Could taste the freshness of the fish! The other dishes were quite nice too, and as you can see the servings were quite generous too!

What an amazing place to eat! We were seated very quickly, the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. My only regret is that I had the mussels, because they raised my expectations so high, I will never be satisfied with just any dish with mussels again. My boyfriend loved the chicken and fries, and the 7 year old loved the clam chowder, and sourdough.

Very busy restaurant serving seafood and Italian. Make sure to book as it can be hard to get a spot sometimes. The food is good and bad - both types of calamari were delicious, clam chowder very tasty and full of flavour, however the fish of the fish and chips were over cooked and the pan fried trout was too oily. Service was excellent as the waiter was very friendly.

Beautiful surprise due to pier 39 closed for event prep. Came for early dinner just before sunset. Super classic ambience, every dish tastes so good, so this place is historical for a reason. Gorgeous view to harbour and hills. And proved my point that if you see lots of seniors dining here, you know it's a great restaurant.

Definitely a proper seafood restaurant in the crowded area of Fisherman’s Wharf. While fare for food may seem high, there won’t be a cheaper option unless you cook a lobster yourself. Food tasted great, albeit in a standard presentation. I’m mostly impressed by the service of the waiters and waitresses- definitely the cream of the crop in terms of attentiveness and hospitality. Safe to say, I am a return customer at Alioto’s for the consistently great experience overlooking the bay.

Outstanding restaurant with excellent views. A good suggestion is to go for lunch. They do have an excellent lunch menu that is very reasonably priced for the quality of food and the location. Obviously dinner menu is going to be much more expensive and likely have larger servings, but you can really get a great experience and enjoy wonderful taste at lunch. The clam chowder soup is amazing, don't miss it.

Great location.. Really good tasting food. All preparations we ordered were really good. Good service. We went to the case on the ground floor. Other done in restaurant in the first floor also looked good. There were also lots of street food options in the side walk. Been service this area for a long time and the food explains how they sustained all through these years!

Besides the Louie dressing, everything was wonderful. Tasted very delicious. Wait time was only 5 minutes and seating was spacious with a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge. S.F. My city.

Excellent service. The plates could be better. The juices are not natural. It is situated in a tourist place, where people from all over the world visit, so they could improve on some special dishes with shrimp, making something special and different.

Today we had an excellent lunch at Alioto’s, they’re a great family friendly restaurant. The service was great and the food faultless, I definitely recommend the truffle fries too, so good they’re off the scale! If you’re ever in the area you’ll do well to find a better all round experience!

Stopped in here before heading to the airport to kill some time and see a little more of the city. Loved how it was located on the pier and all the windows to look out at all the ships in the harbor was beautiful, very picturesque! I had a Mango margarita that was quite amazing and we shared some oysters as well. The service was great they were very attentive and accommodating. It was a little more on the expensive side but well worth it for the overall quality and experience you are receiving!

Good casual spot for quality seafood on the San Francisco waterfront. Prices weren’t too bad and it did not take very long before we were seated and had our orders taken. Pictures are a clam chowder sourdough bread bowl and the shrimp cocktail. I could have done without the addition of the mini shrimp but the bread bowl was outstanding and comes highly recommended

The food was so delicious. Best crabcake and Swordfish. Service was just OK. Not personable at all. But the gentleman who delivered my husband's drink was very nice. I saw others being waited on with much attention.. Us not so much. We won't be back. But enjoyed the food.

Stumbled in here randomly and was not disappointed. Home style sicilian seafood resturant, excellent service, and beautiful foods. My only regret was not being able to eat more food. Looking forward to coming back again

Came here with my friends. We got lucky and had a table with a Great View! We were able to catch the sunset. Estuvo bien bonito. La comida bien sabrosa, nos entendieron bien, and I can’t wait to come back again! 😊

Food was good and on par with what we expected for the price range. They had some of the most amazing sourdough bread we’ve ever had, and the cheesecake was to die for! Views from the windows facing the bay were decent, but maybe not worth the extra wait time (~30 mins). Make a reservation and be flexible with seating options, and you shouldn’t have to wait long.

Alioto's was phenomenal! A bit pricey, but what do you expect in Fisherman's Wharf? The restaurant had an amazing view of the bay and the Golden Gate bridge. The food was fresh and tasty, and the drinks were as well! Our waiter was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely return here when I'm in the area!

A delight to enjoy lovely food in an amazing setting Alioto's is an old favourite of ours. We eat here first in 2009 and loved it so much we knew when we came back to San Francisco that it would be on our list of must go eating places. The views over the bay, even a fog bound bay, are amazing. We began the meal with Bread and flavoured Olive Oil, the peppery richness of the olive oil was delightful. For starters (appetisers to use the local phrase) I had Smoked Salmon, served on toasted sourdough bread, with capers and a sprinkle of lemon - it was fresh and delicious. My partner choose Caesar Salad which was salty, crunchy and delicious. The anchovy was well mixed through the salad and the croutons were garlic rich. He was very happy. When I first came to Alioto's I had never tasted Cioppino, a dish invented here in San Francisco by the Italian community. I've now eaten it in a number of places, but the one here remains the most delightful and special. It is also the best flavoured and has an amazing mix of shellfish. It was fishy, seafoody and rich in tomato, garlic and parsley - absolutely amazing. If you ever come to San Francisco make the effort to treat yourself to this delight. Even if, like me, you end up a bit messy at the end! My partner went for the Truffle Halibut, this pan fried halibut was served with sautéed mushrooms, caramelised pearl onions and truffle oil over mashed potatoes. The mash was creamy and the halibut was cooked perfectly, a sauce might have made it richer, but my partner enjoyed it just as it was. My partner finished with a delightful dessert - Nonna Rose’s Famous House Made Cannoli. The outside was crispy and the inside rich and creamy, he loved it.

Used to be my favorite place. Noticed the menu changed and a lot of the favorites were gone. The 1/2 1/2 calamari was delicious, oysters Rockefeller was awful, almost scary awful. Avocado salad w house dressing was real nice, salmon kalbi was marginal at best . The soy sauce was just too sweet for me. Kids pasta had no flavor. Server was nice ... I enjoyed her. Hope it was just a bad night , but I have a feeling a corporation has taken over and destroyed a San Francisco favorite

We had families from overseas with us and we were really hungry. The food took a little longer before they arrived. I ordered the vegetarian pasta it was good. My sister in law ordered salmon and she said that it was great. The lobster shrimp ravioli was delicious. It's just I get confused with the taste it's more like lobster taste and I can't even taste the shrimp flavor at all.

I have been visiting Alioto’s since early 80’s Sorry there is no comparison between today’s store and what it used to be. Great location, fantastic view but the food is mediocre at its best. Very commercialized and yes all restaurants need to be updated at some point. Anyways if you are in Fisherman’s Warf in SF stop by for a bowl of chowder and a couple photos. Not the greatest chowder but used to be legendary. Average tourist food...... disappointing

Our waiter was super nice, loved him. Did not care for the food! Husbands steak had no seasonings and my east to west Crab and Lobster was definitely not worth what I paid. Very dry crab and my lobster was not appealing. They don’t clean it so it has the greenish guts all over the meat. Best part of the meal was the bread!

I ordered the seared ahi for dinner. No flavor, very bland. The saffron rice was also bland and somewhat dry. Dont get me started on the vegetables. Paid the bill, but I've had better dinners in a drive through.

I love this place and many wonderful memories of going there as a little girl with my family ❤️, I was just there two days ago and the staff was absolutely wonderful to me and my client we had a wonderful time and The Half and half calamari was fantastic, I will definitely be back soon!!!

Love this place, me and the wife always come here when we are in town. Me and the wife had dinner on May 30th in the evening, unfortunately the next morning on the 31th both of us were up early vomiting. Hope it wasn't because of your food. Great food and service always.

Decided to try Alioto’s since last time we were in town they were closed for plumbing issues. So glad we decided to! The Lobster raviolis my husband had were delicious and the Crab sandwich I had was so refreshing! Great Caesar salad (tasted like homemade dressing I’m guessing). Our waiter wasn’t very talkative (but seemed like all the other ones were.. think it was just us, because he was talkative to the table next to us). Would definitely recommend it and come back!

Super nice staff. The kid next to us threw up bad I mean really bad and your staff didn’t blink an eye. Our food was great Steak and chowder and shrimp crab combo was right on. Great view. And for the parents that had the kid that threw up that kid told you he didn’t like fish and he told you he was going to blow. Yep he did all over the wall and table and seat. And the mom was like my child never has a problem like this Thank you Aliotos the entertainment was funny not for the poor guy that had to clean up. See you soon 👍

My husband and I spent the whole day last Wednesday in SF. We went for brkfst to our regular place, Buena Vista. He then went to the Giants game and I went shopping. We love going to the Wharf for dinner. We went to Alioto’s. Everything was wonderful! Having a drink at the bar was great! The service and food was outstanding! We were both very pleased. We will definitely be going back soon! Loved it!

Poor service but nice waiter when he was around. Food very average. Great view.
